Yep. Newbies little self introductory threads always turn into a shark attack. Honestly, they beg for it.
This place is like general population at a frickin prison. When they open the door and send you in with all your shite in your hands, do you immediately get everyone's attention just to say hi and start talking about how good the food is?
No.
You go in, keep your head down and shut the frick up until you learn who is who. Then just start commenting on topics here and there. And somewhat intelligently is always a plus.
I've seen a couple of noobs do it this way, but the majority just love to say hello.
