He let the UF players get in his head. They were baiting him from the start of the game.

I'm no apologist for that kind of behavior, but it looked to me as though Gurley was getting some extra special attention in the pile ups and what not after the whistle. Don't blame the kid for getting fed up with it.

EDIT: "getting in his head" is one thing, poking at eyes and working on a player after the whistle is something completely different.

Here's some Florida twitter recap of it

quote:

Fowler pushed Gurley off him on the ground, Gurley stayed in his face, Powell pushed Gurley off Fowler, players stood up, Gurley threw punch

Terrible journalism.

Gurley got tackled. Dick sucker attempts an eye gouge. Gurley freaks out and throws a punch. Both players should have been ejected.

Yep, Richt's players often don't play smart. Lack of instilled discipline is the root cause. You usually don't see Alabama's players involved in this kind of crap because they know Saban doesn't tolerate it.

It happened in the SECCG last year, Dawson eye gouged someone on the fumbled kickoff.

Sorry the truth hurts. If you think Saban would have allowed a team brawl like that, then you are clearly delusional.

I hope you dumbasses realize how much UF was enticing that shite. Yeah UGA players should keep their cool but when you are being pushed that much you eventually lose it. And dont sit here and act like Bama players are little angels.

Jesus tap dancing Christ. Why the frick does everything come back to Saban? Who gives a frick what Saban does. He's not our coach nor will he ever be.

Gurley looked like Fred Sanford trying to get into the end zone on a couple of those runs.

Saban/Alabama has won 3 out of the last 4 National Championships. He sets the highest standard which should be the goal of any competitive college football program.

Well, the ones that haven't been processed or arrested are pretty nice.

I'm no fan of brawls, but a lot goes on in this game in particular. These teams really don't like each other. GA/Barn, GA/Tech not so much heat year and year out.

Tech was a little like this - dewberry and the hedges, but now they are like playing a AA team.

AU, on occasion can be ugly. always wondered why this game wasn't more heated. It has potential though. The fire hose incident and Fairley's antics have ratcheted up the hate level for fans and the team.

All in all beating FL makes my year. I hate those jort wearing punks. I think the team hates those guys as much as the fans, so brawls are inevitable.

Honestly I don't mind a little chippiness, but both teams should be embarrassed by that shite that happened on the field yesterday.

You are overreacting. I'm UGA class of '75. Win or lose I pull for my Dawgs. However, I'm also a realist. I call'em like I see'em. Objectively I recognize that Saban has set the highest standard in college football. What is missing from Richt's teams that is found in Saban's teams is a higher standard of discipline, better roster management, focus on defense and special teams and more balanced recruiting.

its missing from every team other than Saban's. He puts the most into his program and gets the most out...Richt is never goig to be Saban, and the guy we hire after Richtwon't be Saban either. There is only one. There is no need to compare everything we do to alabama. its pointless. Be happy we beat Florida for the 3rd fricking time in a row. jfc
