If you're going to the game why pregame at a bar instead of on campus?

I don't have a great answer for that

A few reasons:
1) Tailgate situation may be in limbo
2) TV's
3) Air Conditioning
4) Bitties
5) Air Conditioning
6) Bitties

The last tailgate I'm going to at Baldwin has free food and alcohol, tvs, and is right near the stadium. All are welcome.

See, WG was saying why not tailgate but then all he did was get me to wonder why don't I just tailgate downtown. I've never done that and I wanna watch all the games. I also like being close to Sanford.
What's the best bar for having a bunch of games on?

Just pitch a tent on the corner of College Ave and Clayton. If the homeless can do it, I don't see why you can't. PERFECT TAILGATE LOCATION.

Or college and broad, and clothesline any Clemson fan trying to walk under the arch.

OCCUPY THE ARCH
But yea, my tent won't have a TV. Need a TV. Need it baaaaaaadly. WG helped me have an epiphany. I have been planning on tailgating at my buddy's greek tailgate but why? I can see sorostitutes everywhere. But you know what isn't everywhere? FOOTBALL, A/C, and OVER PRICED BEER. My god, man, it's great! How have I never tailgated downtown?

I've always gone to Mags. They're generally been open (or I've made them open). That's where I plan to be before we set up or north campus spot.

I'm glad I could help ya out DGD. To each his own, and I'm glad you've found your calling!
I just feel that to me personally, I get 6 or 7 days in Athens during the year. I can sit inside in the AC and watch sports on TV any day of the year pretty much. It's not everyday that I can be on campus, soaking up the beautiful scenery around campus, not have to fight through 50 shoulders to get a beer, etc. Obviously both options have their advantages and disadvantages, but I know which one I'll choose :)

What time do they usually open?

That's all great points. But it's still recent in my memory and I really love college football and have always hated missing other games.
And the tailgate I was gonna go to was a friend's greek tailgate and the people I'd talk to there are basically going wherever I go anyway (or I'm going where they do) so why go to that tailgate?
I've had several friends bugging me to set up my tailgate but that'd require me driving and finding a spot in the early AM and then moving it after the game whereas I could just watch the game and then walk downtown and watch Bama/WVU or LSU/Wiscy

Not sure. We forced them to let us in before the UK game in 2011 at like 8 or 9. They'll definitely be open by 11 or 12 though.

Does Athens have uber?

Ha, I wish. All I know of is $5 vans that take an hour to get to your house.

Athens Home Depot is running a $350 sale on those little tailgating satellites
