Greyson Lambert's focus was on Georgia even before he left Virginia.

Eager to master Georgia's playbook as quickly as possible, Lambert said he bought a small whiteboard which he used to study the Bulldogs' plays. He said he would hide it in his notebook during history class at Virginia this summer.

"Uh, don't tell the professors," Lambert said with a smile on Tuesday before his first Georgia practice.

"I did everything I could to learn as much as possible."

The sneaky studying worked out.

Lambert completed his four-year degree and transferred to Georgia. Now a graduate student, he joined Brice Ramsey and Faton Bauta in Georgia's quarterback race.

Coach Mark Richt said the three will share snaps with the first-team offense until he can narrow the competition to two.

The only game on the table is for backup and that's nowhere near set at this point.

I am far from ready to buy into the hype on this dude. The fact we might be starting a transfer from an ACC doormat in his first season with the team should be worrying.

I've been looking at this differently. If this guy can come in and win the job over people who have been here and had an advantage, maybe he will kill it

UVA is a complete and utter dumpster fire. I'm not saying Lambert is all world by any means, but the complete lack of talent on that offense probably had a lot to do with his struggles.

He graduated early from UVA while learning plays in class.

Which likely means he's just smarter than everyone else in the conference, now. UVA is wonderful academically.

UVA is my second favorite school after UGA. UVA also probably has the nicest campus in the country.

It's in the discussion. Charlottesville is an awesome place.

Auburn said the same thing with Cam's first year....FYI. They all thought 2011 was going to be the big year. Not saying GL will ever play, but making statements like this about college football transfers is dumb as shite.

Did you want a beat up, medically disabled LB that USC didn't want anymore???

Absolutely LOVE Charlottesville. Athens has a better nightlife, way better music scene, and hotter girls, but Charlottesville is still really fun, is tucked in some of the most gorgeous land known to God's green earth, and the architecture is beautiful. Due to my marital ties, I pull for Duke in the ACC, but I really do like UVA. After spending as much time there the past few years as I have, it makes me wish I had given them a little bit of a harder look when I was applying to colleges.

It is. I went once in middle school when my sister was looking at UVA and once in high school for a conference. It was my first true view of what a college campus was like when I was eating and I see two 10s walking down the street in sexy safari clothing.

Back to campuses, TJ had such a vision for the layout that really puts it over the top.

Pepperdine looks like it has an awesome campus as well.

Also, it's hard to beat Oxford but Oxford is really like 30 campuses and they all have different tastes from urban to palatial to country estate.

Exactly. Not saying Lambert is a god send and I still think that Ramsey will get the gig but Lambert played on a bad football team. If he can tie Ramsey I'd lean his way on experience alone.

Lambert is only one of the three with any real meaningful gameday experience..might be a little smarter than the other 2 as well..I think they "award" the starting nod to Ramsey and expect him to play himself out of the job.

No disrespect and I understand folks wanting to make predictions but why can't we just let them compete for 28 more practices?

I read that Lambert is running the offense today so we can get a feel of how the new starter will do this year.

Because it's the preseason, we're bored, and our projections have no bearing on the actual result

Fall Camp workload disagrees with you, at moment. Ramsey is apparently getting the lion's share of reps with the 1's in the closed portion of practice and Lambert is struggling with his velocity on intermediate and long throws. 247 is reporting that insiders, who have attended both days of practice for the full sessions, are saying that, contrary to Richt's comments, it looks like Ramsey is comfortably the front runner right now. It's only two days of practice and a lot can change, but right now I'm not buying that Lambert will be the guy.

Reports also say that Thompson is blowing everyone away wih his combination of size, strength, and speed and that both coaches and veteran players alike are spending extra time with him and trying to get him up to speed as quickly as possible.
