This seems very disorganized event.. they should have atleast had a backup planned for the same day. They announce to everyone only to have to retract it later. Makes me think of how incompetent McEars is.

Better yet, how can we get Fetty Wap to play in Stegeman coliseum on a Tuesday night but can't get anyone to play in Sanford on a Saturday afternoon?

Simple, a competent organization planned Fetty. McGarity was planning for the G-Day act.

How about it, Greg McGarity is in charge of a public entity that can influence state laws, but he can't line up a music act for G-Day

This has McGarity failure written all over it. Kirby Smart did his part promoting the event.

Greg dropped the ball.

Do I care if there is a musical act? No.

I care more about the synchronicity between the AD and the coach.

Kirby Smart is working his arse off. In my opinion, Greg McGarity is lazy.

Athens is known for having up and coming bands that are striving for exposure, and he can't find a band that will perform in front of 93k?

An aside, I fondly remember watching the Allman brothers performing in Central City park in Macon.
Sunday afternoon. Listening to Dwayne play and Greg sing. Phil Walden knew how to promote.

The fact most every fraternity on campus at UGA can book 15k-50k artists year in and year out flawlessly, but a guy paid for his management "skills" fails to produce on a musical act for one of the biggest events outside of football seasons says a lot.

UPDATE: According to the UGA Athletics twitter account, it now looks like Ludacris will be playing at 3:45 before the game.

If true, I'm curious if Luda felt bad for UGA and is doing us a favor.

I mean, I doubt the school would officially and publicly come out and say "sorry, we tried, but concert is canceled. We just couldn't find anyone" unless everyone they asked had given a hard no. Why would they come out and risk that embarrassment if Luda was still a possibility?

Either mcgarity has the worst PR game of any AD (proven fact) or he tried to pull a fake out on the fanbase.

Maybe he was trying to pressure Luda, like "awwww see how sads everyone is now?"

Exactly ludacris should have been called for sure. And why say u don't have anyone before u actually call him or maybe his schedule freed up. But just stupid regardless

this may be the worrier in me, but from what I can tell all this hubbub is coming from a tweet from UGA's page that says GDay, 3:45, be there followed by @ludacris.

Nothing on georgiadogs yet, and the tweet doesnt' actually say anythign about ludacris performing. Yeah, yeah, I know...but still. Would be nice to just put out a release instead of sending cryptic tweets.
