I know they're a very good Power 5 team but when I've watched them play it feels like watching a group of 5 team...

Dunno if it's their shitty D2 looking uniforms, dumpy stadium or whatever but I just can't get worried

With that said, they'll prolly take us to the wire.

I think our offense can pick a number.

I think their offense can get 24 to 35 points.

Pressure their QB or we could get really frustrated with the defense.
Traditionally, we dial up the pressure in these types of games. Home field will be huge in getting off the field on defense as well.

The key to stopping them is linebacker play. And we have great linebacker play. But they will need to be elite on Saturday.

Yesterday was only the third time the Dawgs have covered the spread all season. After UK and Ball State.

Did we put our second and third string early in the games that we didn't cover the spread?

Their WR group is top 3 for sure, IMO.

Dawg DBs are the best in the country, however. That group, along with a solid pass rush should be enough to keep them in check.

We play a lot of players and even more when the game is in hand. Smart plays to win and build depth.

I feel another Sanford special brewing.

Can’t remember the last time Kirby’s UGA has laid an egg against a ranked/decent opponent in Sanford. (Does South Carolina count?) We seem to play down/up to our opponent at home.

Yup.
You can't even think about repeating as a playoff contender without reloading immediately.
And you only do that with game reps at positions like linebacker, safety, and wide receiver.

We took a lot of unnecessary risks in that game against South Carolina.

The 2 strategies are to play with the lead and rely on the defense.
Or play to the team strength and rely on the defense.

We tried to manufacture momentum/chances and it cost us a bad loss.
Not all risks work out okay.

I was talking about 2023 SC game but you’re right.

Since 2017 only:

Texas A&M 2019
South Carolina 2019
Mississippi St 2020
South Carolina 2023

Have kept the game under a 14 point deficit.

NO ONE, outside of Tennessee in 2016, has scored 30 on UGA in Sanford under Kirby. And obviously we know the heroics needed for UT to accomplish that … in Kirby’s first year.

coley is to balme for SC. It's a miracle we won as many games as we did in 2015 and 2019 considering the complete fricking morons that were calling plays.

Maybe. But it us Kirby's call to go for it on 4th down.

Their gametying field goal that sent us to overtime is directly related to our failed 4th down try.

Our defense gave up 10 points in regulation and we lost. That is a failure on the offense period. We had an upperclassman Fromm, deandre swift, zamir white, james cook, george pickens, lawrence cager, etc and couldn't score 20 points in 4 quarters. That is squarely on coley.

Coley's fault, that dude sucked balls, even Swift was done playing for him by the end. (not talking about this shoulder injury in the GT game)

I think that’s fair. I think UT will have 3 losses by then so could be more subdued.

1) we were without Jordan Davis. South Carolina was able to run enough to keep 3rd and short. Their balance was good enough to control clock and shorten the game

2) James Cook wasn't James Cook in 2019. He would abuse an Arkansas St or GT. But he didn't do anything in conference play.
Lawrence Cager was hurt. He literally was a security blanket (jump ball for Fromm on 3rd down. Fromm was elite on 3rd downs because of backshoulders and jump balls. When he would lose Wims, Holloman, or Cager who was hurt a lot in 2019 then Fromm was very pedestrian). Upperclassman or not (chaney and coley too), he needed that type of crutch all 3 years.

3) the playcalling was aggressive. We passed the ball over 50 times. Fromm was relying on Demetrius Robinson and Tyler Simmons to be impact players. The result was 3 INTs. Fromm also fumbled the ball away.

If we played ball control and field position, we win that game as our defense gave up 4.6 yards per play.

You said it yourself. The defense gave up a TD and FG. That field goal was off a short field after a turnover on downs (kirby's fault). Punt the ball and we win. The gamecocks only got 30 yards on the drive for the field goal.

We can go back and forth all day but the overall, big picture situation that isn't up for debate is that we put up 17 points in 4 quarters plus 2 OTs on a team with twice as many losses as wins. If your defense gives up 13 points in regulation and you still lose, there is no way to blame anything else besides the offense. Your offense failed.

Who is in charge of the offense?
Who is in charge of going for it on 4th down?
Who is in charge on the gameplans?

Kirby was a new coach. It is OK to say he effed it up and learned from it.

By the way.... when I said that we took unnecessary risks against Scar, I wasn't referencing the defense. I'm not sure where you got that idea.
