It's nonsense the Dawgs dropped 4 spots in the BCS after losing to Bama... but we're likely to finish no lower than 5th in each of the AP and USA Today.

We're currently ranked #6 in the AP, behind #4 Florida and #5 Oregon (Ahead of #6 KSU).

We're currently ranked #5 in the USA Today, behind #3 Oregon and #4 Florida.

In other words, if Oregon loses to KSU tonight, we'll most likely be no lower than 4th in each poll.

I still don't have any idea why anybody gives one shite about the AP poll. Since 2004 it, literally, doesn't count for anything. It means as much as the AJC, an espn.com fan voted power poll, or WG_Dawg's personal rankings. Which is to say, nothing.

Who gives a damn, we still lost, just makes us the 4th or 5th loser, means nothing, are we playing for an N.C? NO

Lots of people give a damn. I guess in your world there should be no rankings right? Just have the NC winner at 1 with the other 100+ teams unranked?

I do...and you should too considering that we have Clemson, USC and LSU in September next year..the better the preseason ranking, the better the chances of surviving a loss in one of those games..

Top 5 finish this season = Top 8 preseason (at worst) next season

2 posts in this thread nailed it. post season rankings affect pre season rankings. pre season rankings MATTER. anyone that argues that is idiotic. and recruits think about that shite as well. even if they just read a stat that says uga has had xx top 10 (or whatever) finishes in the past xx years, it matters.

Really? That's a pretty crappy attitude. Nothing to hang you head about when finishing top 5.

And considering we finished 6-7 in 2010, 10-4 in 2011 (finished what 16th?), and 12-2 in 2012, is pretty damn good IMO.

Definitely not assuming we will finish with a better record in 2013. But it's good to know our program is back on the rise again.
