It's up to the elders to pass down culture.
It's on our shoulders.

And that can only be followed up by Machine Gun. Downright haunting.
That UniVibe....
I think only getting a brief period of Band of Gypsies is one of the most unfulfilled parts of rock history. it was a whole different animal than the Experience and it really seemed like 3 guys playing together and creating something instead of Hendrix and 2 backup guys. Who knows if the stories about the manager giving Hendrix bad acid to break up the Band of Gypsies to get him back with the Experience are true but whatever happened it robbed us of what could have been some unreal music.

Yea I have the Band of Gypsies Fillmore East DVD from that NYE run and used to watch it almost nightly for a good while like a journey somewhere different each time.

It really is impressive when you realize how much amazing music a lot of the old rock bands put out. Instead of one or two hit wonders (which some definitely existed) you had so many bands that put out multiple albums that will stand the test of time. It's just a level of thoroughness that I don't see in modern rock.
Of course I think part of that has to do with those bands really hitting the smaller circuits and building up their skills, etc instead of just being thrown into the studio and fixing any little problem with Protools and coming up with 1 song designed to sell a lot. But that's a different rant.

Never heard of Ozric Tentacles but that first track piqued my interest. Will have to give them more of a listen. Almost has a 'talking heads drowned in LSD with Joe Satriani-ish lead' sound to it
But yea that was definitely ahead of the early 90s. Sounds almost like what some jam bands are moving toward nowadays.

Saw Yonder Mountain String Band again tonight. At one point they worked their way into Son of A Preacher Man. I love when bands do random stuff like that.
Also reminded of how funny the music video is. Definitely has a 60s look to it haha

Perfect
They were just Brit rave kids trying to sell tickets to raves in England and came up with a live production and their creation ended up being a lucrative and influential band. Acid.
Don't lock yourself in a dark room on Acid with anything, especially Ozric Tentacles.

Yea Packway definitely has a more traditional bluegrass sound. I don't know if it's possible to listen to bluegrass and be too unhappy, I love that stuff.
