If you are being serious, I think this interview may help explain things...

Confused?

Nice interview, Wiggins just making excuses for Mauger's shitty tackle attempt. Mauger was there to make the play, and fricked up. Has nothing to do with confusion, the interviewer gave Wiggins a way out of throwing Mauger under the bus, but giving him a leading question about confusion. In Wiggins' answer, they clearly knew what the play call was and who they were supposed to cover. Listen to the whole thing.... take it in as a whole, not in pieces.

When you ask a football player "Do you like sushi?"

And he says "Yeah, Yeah, um, sushi, you know I really would rather eat a hamburger"

You can't say "He said he likes sushi! He said "yeah yeah" Clearly he likes raw fish!"

Speaking of interviews, how about this one from Damian Swann with Chuck Dowdle, where Ol Chuck is trying is motherfricking damndest to get Swann to say Grantham's scheme was too complicated... this interview was AFTER Grantham was gone and Pruitt was in mid-Spring practice with these guys... no reason for Swann to act protectionist, and Dowdle really really really trying to get Swann to say the secondary was too complicated...

Check it out.. The 12 minute mark is where Dowdle starts laying it one thick..

Swann doesn't give in. He says it's true freshmen being true freshmen, not an overly complicated scheme.

LINK

And here's another one with Dowdle, with Sterling Bailey, again trying really really really fricking hard to get Bailey to throw Grantham under the bus, again, after Grantham is gone, this interview is a week after the Swann one above...

Even Sterling says it had jack shite to do with a scheme too complicated. Sterling answers the question by saying the practices have been changed up for everyone, offense and defense. Dowdle's leading question makes it seem like Bailey is saying the scheme is too complicated, and Dowdle himself even backs off it at the end, realizing he's insulting the shite out of the team with his ignorant question.

06:30 is the relevant question from Dowdle.

LINK

OK, I've fielded the interview question, give me a minute and I'll field the video submissions.

Highlights make it difficult, but it was a season long problem, fo' sho.

You called out the :35 mark.

That's Herrera, #52, making a signal call to the secondary. The ball is snapped as he is making the signal. No worries though, the secondary didn't blow the coverage. Wiggins was there to make a play, but didn't. The receiver was covered. Wiggins just didn't do his job.

I don't see people jumping up and down confused. I see Herrera about to mutilate the qb who throws it up and Wiggin's just didn't do his damn job. No confusion, no complicated scheme that breaks down.

Tell me you don't watch that play and come to the same damn conclusion.

OK, on to the next moron.

Stand by.

i will say i was at the nebraska game in the endzone watching them have no idea what to do before that huge play they gave up...Herrera was losing his mind cause he knew the backfield was confused....CTG called the timeout....gave Nebraska a chance to recoup and they ended up blowing our coverage anyway...you all know what play im talking about...and it was one of many...

deeprig...your ribs looked delicious but you cray cray man...

Mauger was there to make the play. He didn't.

Secondary play was piss poor last year. Lots of true freshmen.

Had jack shite to do with Grantham's Scheme being too complicated.

OK, on to the next moron.

You're right. He was there to make the tackle for what would have been a thirty yard completion. Clearly all the assignments were known and followed correctly.

This article really isn't about how complicated the scheme was. It's about how shitty the communication was.

This is a good one, and the best example I've seen yet, in all the times I've asked for examples.

First, Floyd and Jenkins switch sides when LSU lines up quick with receivers on Jenkins' side. Floyd is the better cover linebacker and switches with Jenkins real quick...

Simultaeaeaneously, Ramik and Swann have a pow wow to see who is going to cover who..

While Ramik and Swann are talking, Floyd looks over his outside shoulder to see that Swann is there, but Swann isn't there, because Swann is talking to Ramik.

So Floyd looks over his other shoulder to see Ramik, and Ramik is there, but Swann has already backed away and back into position.

This all happens in a 3 second window. It happens very fast.

"Swain" apparently doesn't know what's going on, but the result of the play is....

A 2 yard pass right into the middle of the alleged confusion, and stuffed immediately by Floyd, putting LSU in 3rd and 4.

The result of the apparent confusion was stuffing the play.

So far, I'm not seeing a culture of confusion. I will admit this is the first example I've seen, after months of asking for an example, that shows legitimate confusion by a player in the secondary, the most senior guy, Swann, no less.

It happens from time to time, guys aren't on the same page.

The shite arse secondary was youth and inexperience, and in many cases, just being outclassed talent-wise.

Incredibly eloquent response to a simple 56 second interview. Of all that, well thought out diatribe, you seemed to gloss over the most important part. Seemingly because it fits your idiom. The question remains, however; at what point was Shaq Wiggins quote- "Yeah, just a little confusion, its just what we been trying to fix all season" - going to be addressed. Was it not convenient for your argument?

Don't get me wrong, I was never, and remain, a non Grantham basher. But pretending like there wasn't issues last year; is borderline "Ostrich with his head in the sand" behavior. IMHO.

Two plays there.

First play, Swann looks to Moore for the signal, Moore doesn't give it, Moore is signalling the other side of the field. Swann shows his frustration. Moore finally signals Swann. Everything is ok. No blown coverage. No big play given up.

The second play is a 4th and two. Swann is either raising his hand as part of a play call or to maybe rile up the crowd, not sure, but there doesn't seem to be any confusion, no one is turning their heads around or acting confused. It's just Swann on one receiver, nothing really complicated there, just sort of back yard football on that play.

I wonder if I watched through all of Alabama's footage, or FSU's footage from last year, how many confused secondaries I would see.

At least two?

And they weren't starting true freshmen either, like we were.

Hey, did the secondary suck? Big time.

Was it Grantham's scheme being too complicated?

I haven't seen the evidence.

I would expect someone with such a rich post history (10k or so) to know a little more about what UGA had on the field. At times i wondered if a team of trained monkeys could've ran the defense better. I don'thave to use my "college words" on this subject to feel smart and make my point either since its made for me clear as a bell in game film. Quit peter puffin and biting your pillow during games and there will be less confusion on this board. Thanks in advance for the goopity gwop that is sure to ooze out of your mouth as you use your "college words".
