ESPN reports that the Patriots starting center is on IR. The starter at center will either be Andrews or some other player whose name I missed.

That's awesome. He's a great guy and DGD. I remember people saying while he was in high school that he was too small to ever be good in the SEC...and look at him now.

I had a buddy who played on the offensive line with him in high school. Said the kid got his man strength in like 8th grade and just dominated from day one of high school. Said he always knew he was gonna be awesome despite his size.

Rookie David Andrews snapping ball to arguably the greatest QB of all time in opener for defending super bowl champs.......

So we had the starting center for the New England Patriots playing for us last season.

Nice.

It seems to me that the Pats love to draft and sign "football" players. Tough, overacheivers...

They're obsessed with drafting team captain types and TD brought that to Atlanta. It worked in New England but not so much here. Andrews was a no brainer though. Highly productive, intelligent, and a 3 year starter in the SEC.

Andrews not only started - he kicked arse. Young man looks to get paid for years to come with a game like that.

Good for him.

I always thought that a large part of the other owners going after the Patriots was the fact that Patriots free agents often beat opposing first round picks.

It also has to piss off the other owners that they can't beat a QB that they failed to draft at least five times.

David Andrews is going to be a winner.

He held his own out there for sure, really happy for him as he was my favorite dawg the past few seasons. Brady definitely seemed to approve.

Wish the Falcons could have had a chance to see him play in college . . . .

Really, as angry as I might get at the Falcons, I am starting to believe that the coaches drive the lineman employment and you have to fit the current coach's template of a lineman that fits the blocking scheme. So it's not necessarily the Falcon organization but that the coaches in the NFL look for certain type, in Andrews' case does not fit the majority. I did , however, believe and still do, that Andrews should be perfect for the zone blocking scheme.
