Has Lowndes had any info in regards to personnel/recruiting down the stretch? TIA.

It's behind paywall but I did see Elisha Shaw canceled his announcement and they are saying UGA has a pretty big lead for Zo Carter but he did visit Florida recently. Everything else is VIP. :(

Not really. I could have missed something though. Rusty has hinted at UGA making a big run at a few players committed to other schools when the dead period ends.

Sheeot, I'll believe it when they sign on the dotted line.

I'm just speculating, but we could try to go after guys like Cortez McDowell, Kendarius Webster, Korie Rogers, or a few others

We really don't do that bad usually. Last year we whiffed totally but that's not usually the case. Even then we got Bellamy on NSD. The nature of recruiting is that you're going to miss on way more than you get

The Dream Team class was one of the best closing efforts since the FSU NSDs in the 90s

I mean more of flipping kids. We do a great job of keeping kids once they're committed but we rarely get that surprise kid. Gates is the last one I remember.

Getting Malcolm Mitchell was probably the best recruiting feelings in a game that seems so dirty. He had 100pct projections to Bama and was supposedly a done deal so when he commited to the Dawgs i was . Still can't wait to see him play a full season healthy.

Yeah I get what you mean. Hopefully we'll do better this year but we'll have a great class regardless if we get Carter and Green

Yeah that was basically a flip. Him and Jay Rome committed at different locations on the same night because Rome thought Mitchell was going to Alabama. That was a stunner. He was supposed to be a stone cold lock to Alabama

IIRC, Kirby Smart was at MM's announcement and stormed out in disgust and shock when he put on a Georgia hat

One of the most surprised on NSDs I'd ever been

It was a great feeling

I want Webster for nothing more than payback against OM for Tunsil. We should plan to poach at least one of their better recruits each year between now and eternity as arse hole tax.

Smart wasn't at the announcement, it was that morning when Kirby visited MM at his school and he told him he was committing to UGA that Smart stormed out of the school. He was fricking PISSED.

You mean the one time that Richt actually had to try hard to save his seven-figure paycheck?

Yep, and never mind that our toughest competition have Dream Teams/top 5 recruiting classes almost every season.

Aren't there special rules that prevent the HC from getting involved in any given kid's recruitment before his senior year? That's why the assistants and position coaches figure so prominently in the relationships that they develop with the staff, rather than the HC, I'd venture.
