Weird, Kirby threw out Chigbu’s name among others yesterday on the radio talking about people stepping up in leadership positions.

Even stranger he would say that since Chigbu hasn't been to the last few Spring practices according to the link.

Said to the press today that it was injury-related.

Sounds like multiple or compounded injuries.

Well if there's ever a "good" way to leave that's it

Maybe Kirby meant he was hoping Chigbu would step up as a leader for the 3 people that need to give up their spot on the 85.

Most likely that Chigbu realizes he won't get any playing time this season, doesn't want to take the physical contact/damage during practice, and realize he can get a medical disqualification. This allows him to stay in school on scholarship and for us to open up another one for the team. Win/win for everyone.

Eason's willingness (while he was a starter) to continue targeting Chigbu makes me think he is a better athlete than we've seen in games.

I hate it when things don't come together. If he decides to hang up his hat, I wish him the best of luck.

I remember Chigbu had high marks coming into his first year at Georgia. People were raving about his athleticism in high school.

Not sure why I thought Chigbu was a JUCO transfer. Historically, we've had pretty terrible luck at JUCO WRs, save Wims.

Sucks for Chigbu, though. If he's not seeing room in the depth chart at WR, however, it speaks volumes about our returning/incoming talent. Being able to get into that rhythm with your QB is everything, ask Wims.
