The court itself needs to be re-designed. It's ok in its'' own but it's not creative enough. I would change all the seats in the arena to clean, smooth, padded versions. Why not color coordinte seats in a black, white, red, pattern instead of just solid red? The scoreboard is ancient (I think it's in the plans to be replacec or upgraded). The entrance is ok. The box offices need to be updated. Getting tickets from will call reminds me of purchasing tickets from a drive in movie theater. The bathroom fixtures still suck. Most of the fixtures are as cheap as you can possibly put in a commercial setting. Our locker rooms (last time I visited was in 02) which have been updated in the last 10 years are still sub par. There's currently no players lounge to my recollection. When you look up and see the concrete framing of the Steg, it really screams "frick I'm old". There has to be a way to cover that shite up. Maybe some type of massive vinyl banner with the "G" emblem extending from one side of the arenal to the other, hiding the framing. Let's get some more historic (large photos) of some of the all time great and spread them around the interior walls of the arena. Why not a fancy signature of a former great Dawg football/basketball/whoever naming the court after them? Just some thoughts.

They redid the bathrooms and did some stuff to the locker rooms before the 96 Olympics.

They need to do more to get students there... Yes winning solves, that to an extent, but in the mean time...

what SPECIFICALLY would you change?

1.) Improve the interior lighting for the fans' sake

2.) Hanging Jumbotron

3.) Do something to add extra seats or renovate the space where the current scoreboard is. Do NOT just leave a giant cinder block wall with those shitty-arse "banner" wall clings hanging on it.

4.) Hang actual fricking banners from the rafters.

5.) Consider replacing the old seats for big plush ones. If we're going to have a smallish stadium, then give us all premium seating dammit

6.) Can someone please pressure wash the fricking exterior roof of Stegeman???

We used to lift weights and get rehab in the fricking basement of that place when Reagan was in office. It was old and shitty then and devoid of character.

Ding Ding Ding... The biggest question everyone has regarding a new arena vs our current arena is: Where would you put it? Here's an idea... blow the steg to smithereens, and rebuild a new arena in it's current location. There would be limited major utility work, mostly framing/construction. Your main services can/would remain intact, your sewer laterals will still be available for use, and there would be limited to no fibers to contend with.

Nobody said it would be cheap... Although the powers that be would do their best to nickle and dime the contractors in an attempt to save a dollar.

Either that or just use the money to make our scholarships more valuable.

Eh, they just demolished a building I used to work in. They had 3-4 fire trucks on the scene and rain machines blasting water to keep the asbestos down. I was 200 yards away and I could smell the stuff (I think)
