In other words, it's a fricking scam.

If they're offering $40 a ticket for full package to young alumni then it's not a scam. If they're just going to offer single game tickets to young alumni for $40 then it's still not a scam.

But I'm unsure about the details...

Honestly, I'm probably just going to keep my ID(maybe get a new one made just in case) and scalp the cheapest ticket possible and then go to the student section.

The price of a student ticket is $5 per home game. The price of a "young alumni" ticket will be more expensive: $40. But the buyer will not have to pay the "donation credit" (or seat-license fee) that a non-student typically has to purchase. That would have been $500. But the "young alumni" ticket will have a seat-license fee of $250 attached in the second year. And in the third year, the young alumni ticket will require a full $500 donation.

Let me know in 2 years how this non-scam is working out for you, especially since it's for 2000 seats carved out from student section (allegedly), when they graduate tens of thousands of students a year.

Yes, the abysmal turnout by the students is an embarrassment; I'm not going to argue that because ultimately it's on you if you buy a ticket and don't make it into the stadium.

However, one might wonder what could have happened that made students stop showing up. IMO there are 2 main reasons for this clusterfrick.

1. Adams' jihad on tailgating. I know stuff was getting out of control but to do everything in his power to force us to have noon kickoffs is horseshite.

2. The ticket selection system is bullshite. The whole 3 strikes and your out is dumb because to get your ticket privileges revoked you have to pay for and skip 3 fricking games, nobody is going to request a season package and skip more than 2 games at most. Honestly, they should have some sort of "strike system" in place to punish the fricktards who can't show up but it should not be the end all be all. Hell make everyone do a 10 question test on UGA Football, just one more step to eradicate the students who just request shite because it's cheap.

We don't even have all the details and it's already a scam TWO YEARS FROM NOW?

This...

I couldn't believe the number of students who got tickets my freshman year that couldn't tell you anything about the team, either current or historically.

giving him too much credit.

What exactly was getting out of control? A fricking red and black reporter took pictures of the campus at 6:45 AM the sunday morning after a game? That's what everyone's campus looks like after a game. We pay good money to have people clean that shite up by brunch-time, 11:30 ish.

One thing I always hated about Adams was his PRishness.

This is why they should stop requiring a photo id with a student ticket. Then, if that doesn't fix it, (threaten first) then roll back the student ticket allowance to less than the average attendance. Make it clear that they want the stadium full, and if they students are not going to show, then stop giving them tickets.

If a student buys a ticket just load it on their ID card and have it scanned at the gate. No student should get a ticket for $5 and be allowed to scalp it for $40 or more.
I also like the idea of cutting student ticket numbers to prior uears average student attendance.
When I was in school football tix were a dollar and it was first come on seats. There were fools in the stadium 4 hours before a game drinking and the fights and cursing was unreal by gametime.

I think this or a 2-3 strike policy are the best way to make sure kids that actually want to go to the game, get to go. Then the rest, the ones that could care less to begin with, will stop getting tickets unless they actually plan on attending, and the AD could make more money by moving those left over tickets into the general pool.

I only say the no id card deal because I had family members back in the day that would get tickets for everyone in the family that could pass as a student age person and save everyone money. I was never a beneficiary of that, as by the time I was old enough to "pass" as a college age kid they had long since done away with that system. But I would agree, I don't want them scalping those tickets.

That's what they do now. And that's why it's empty: students have no motivation to give away their tickets if they are going to miss the game so the ticket goes unused. If they were scalpable, people would do that.

Yeah, but that's kinda BS too. If you don't want to go then don't buy the ticket. I think a strike system would be the best for everyone. If you need to miss for some reason, then you can. But if you are a chronic skipper, then you shouldn't be allowed to continue to purchase tickets.

That's what they do now. 3 strikes and you can't register the next year.

Although, they only gave SECCG tickets to students with no strikes this year, so there is an incentive.

They should let you buy tickets week by week versus having to buy a full season.

I have a prediction: within the next 10 years, ESPN will begin providing a new service for televised games. Computer generated fans will be used to make the stadium look full, because half-empty stadiums are bad for ratings.

I didn't realize they did this. That's stupid.

Can you transfer single game tickets to another student? Or is it all or nothing?

You can, but you have to go online to enter their student I'd and you can't get any more than like 5 bucks unless its a prime time game. Most people don't bother since you can miss 3 before a serious penalty.

I like the system at FSU. All student tickets are free actually (though $5 per ticket or whatever wouldn't be an issue). Tickets are released a couple of weeks ahead of time online in multiple "windows" that are assigned based on a point system. Grad students and seniors have the highest base points and it goes down from there. The real kicker though is if you attend non-rev or less popular school sports (soccer, baseball, volleyball, etc) you earn additional points.

I think this is a great system because you just don't sign up for games you're not going to attend due to a similar strike policy. Also eliminates freshmen getting screwed over with no control at all. If you really want to go, you drag your arse over to the women's volleyball game or w/e. Take a look at their student section. It shows... Even in a shite conference.
