Taking all 3 games' worth of perspective into account-

Positives:
-When Beck is loose and settled in he looks great
-Our intermediate/deep passing game is great, when we choose to look to it
-Daijuan was BADLY missed and opens up SO MUCH of our offense
-Dillon Bell is a great weapon
-Mykell, Malaki, Smael, Kamari, Javon, Bowers, etc are all guys that we expected to be great and they ahve been
-We've been punched in the mouth and had our fortitude tested and came up big
-We've played in a crappy weather game and come out victorious
-Mews is dangerous as a kick and punt returner.
-Thorson is as reliable as ever
-Much like last year, we are a second half team and no matter how things look at half we've completely dominated second halfs

Concerns:
-We are pitifully slow to start, especially 1st quarters. That has to stop
-We've been relatively lucky the last 2 years regarding injuries which helped us make natty runs. It looks like all of that has built up and come to roost this year. Awful luck at almost every position
-Beck takes a little while to really settle in, which is a bit distrubign for an upperclassman. He also has issues scanning the field and has missed SEVERAL wide open guys streaking down the field that would be gimme touchdowns without a defender within 15 yards but has simply not looked at them.
-Depth at RB, safety, and OL are currently razor thin
-FG kicking is a mess.
-For some reason yesterday we rushed 3 and dropped 8 in zone against an elite passer. Not sure the thought process there. In the past we have been our best getting the frick after the QB and making his life miserable. I know that while rushing 3 we often had a spy on rattler which I get, but overall I don't like the mindset. He picked us apart. In 2021 we treid to contain bryce in the SECCG and play zone and we got torched. In the championship game we pinned our ears back and unleashed hell and they barely did shite on offense all game. Fortuantely this is easily corrected

that wasn't too much of a concern though because we had jalen carter and nolan smith getting to the QB. This is the first year in several years that we aren't littered with obvious 1st round draft picks all over the front 7.

All good points. But, if the coaches can sell them on it, our defense can be the poster children for an unnamed/unknown defense.

But yes. The DLine does not have the talent we have had in the past. I suspect we will start seeing more and more Jordan Hall as the season goes on and he will help anchor the line. He got some reps yesterday. We'll see some of the younger guys stepping up, imo. We knew this going into the season, and i suspect we will begin to see them stepping up and taking over more and more.

IDK,they didn't look good vs Cal but I'd rather not play em at night.

OM looks like the toughest out on the schedule for now.

This is the game that concerns me, too. The Dawgs have got to get rolling offensively right out of the gate. A slow start there will do nothing but give them confidence. The last thing we need is to go into halftime with Auburn leading in that snake pit. Plus, this will the first start for Beck in a hostile environment. He'll probably be ok, but still, just something to think about. I believe we'll know in the first 5-10 min. of the 1st qtr. if Auburn is going to make a game of this or not. If we get the ball to start the game, we need to deliver a knock-out punch to them at that point to kill any hope they have at winning this game.

Less optimistic. The loss of BRob is going to bite us at some point. Edwards is ok but he isn’t the hammer BR is.
D line/LB isn’t dominant.
DB Daniel’s is a liability (Bullard injury)
OLine is pedestrian
Beck isn’t Stetson but who is
Kicker is aweful

Team still has no identity other than scrapping by.

I'm still confident about this season. We have a roster that is deeper than almost every other team. We substitute more than other teams. As the season grows this team will get better and better with experience. I worry a little bit about the clock change rules. Shorter games will cause more upsets.

I'm more optimistic. The defense has players everywhere, and they're as good or better than anyone when they want to be.

The offense can be very good. I'm confident they'll enter bigger games more locked in.

Essentially, I've seen the ability to be elite (if in pieces), and I'm confident the staff will get it out of them consistently by the end of the season.

And we have time.

Same. When Beck learns to anticipate routes and releases the ball sooner, the offense will improve. That's what made Stetson so effective.

Our downfield passing game is sorely lacking.

Well for that, Beck needs to stop locking in on his receiver. I mean, you can watch him follow the receiver as he runs. Better defenses will pick up on that. How many wide open one did he not even look at?

Name a play in the last game where he did that.

That Bowers incompletion when the WR from the left side was wide open in the middle deep. Late 3rd quarter, I think.

There was another when RJS (I think) was running free down the right side with not a sole around him.

Yep, I believe Bowers was in double coverage, but Marcus Rosemy was wide open for the TD.

If you watch that play. The Qbs first read was to the left on a combo route. It wasn’t there and he had a delayed blitz and dumped it to the correct hot read for a nice gain. You can’t use that as a proof source of anything other than him making a nice progression and read. Would have been nice to hit that, but you can’t criticize him for that play. He did it right.

Watched the entire 3rd and 4th qtr and didn’t see this play.

Jeez Cracker, don’t you know we all play Madden here? That gives us the deep understanding of how it all works. You need to stop bringing all this former player knowledge of the game to these arguments. Lol

About the same. The offense worries me. Beck throws some nice balls but is handcuffed in the redzone since we can't run between the tackles.

The defense looks good and will only get better as the year goes along. It takes around 4 games for freshmen to figure out what they're doing.
