Nowhere Bar was his place too (or might be the same bar as sky's). I've had some good times in there

Can honestly say I've never been to the globe. Just never had any reason since other bars pour Guinness

Even when downtown would reach fever-pitch full capacity insanity at 1am after a night game........

...You could walk past The Globe....and looking in the windows, it'd be half empty with small groups of people wearing berets and smoking hand-rolled cigarettes and discussing something very passionately.

Always seemed very out of place.

I think he owned both. But Sky's Place wasn't downtown. It was a shithole hooked on to some motel.....Maybe on Baxter. I don't remember. The only times I went to Sky's Place was when I was in high school visiting older siblings at uga.

I liked Nowhere Bar. Does it still connect to Uptown Lounge ?

I really like nowhere bar. Its right next to bar south and across the street from the theatre and the branded butcher. I don't know what uptown lounge is, bu there is a new uptown bar across from the lay z shopper.

Nah, I don't think so. It does have a fun, sketchy back alley though

That's fricked up....... I just google mapped Uptown Lounge on Washington street and it shows something called "The Flight Deck" in it's place.

Uptown Lounge used to connect to Nowhere Bar through the back of each bar through a hallway past the sketchy outdoor narrow patio thing.

It was pretty much the best happy hour place to go to downtown in my time there. Dollar longnecks or 32 oz drafts or margaritas for i forget how much. Dirt cheap though and a nice front patio.

I too visited this establishment during this time. Nickel nights w/ the Simpletons. Got into a big fight one night and was never allowed back.

Reasonable chance I was nearby when you got booted. Rarely didn't work on Thursday. Made a ton of money (college standards) tending on nickel night believe it or not. Drunk college kids giving me $1 for a nickel beer or liquor drink.

Have an old "BEER me" shirt still around somewhere.

Nowhere Bar is where the Oddessey used to be and that was one of the better dive bars until the Roadhouse got going. Not sure when Sky got involved with that one, but the new owner is in his late 30s. Seems like an OK dude.

The original Sky's Place was in the Days Inn or whatever it was which is the hotel between Broad and Prince just behind the SAE house. It was a dive Bar for sure. I had the pleasure of removing a very young and drunk up and coming QB who started Winter Quarter. He was 17 at the time, drunk, and challenging Sky to throw him out and making refrences to Sky's personal prefrefnces, I know this sounds crazy, but even though there was a huge scene...no one called the police and we made sure he got out without getting arrested or having Sky kick his arse....

Coach Kasey found humor in wearing this shirt to winter workouts, Ray Goff not so much.

No matter where I went, somebody would buy the one off my back. Made a trip to Milwaukee soph year and came back with a bunch of Milwaukee's Best t-shirts. People wanted those too. That was our nickel beer for a while.

I quit that job end of junior year because I stayed drunk all the time and kept cheating on girlfriends. Dumbass in retrospective.

What as that guitar players name who played there all the time? I remember he was dating some rich sorority gal and she bought him some nice Takamine guitar.

Coach Kasey was a nut around us as kids I can't imagine the shite he would say or do unfiltered around just the players

Yet Jon turned out to be kind of the opposite. Kasey and Mrvos together were a funny pair.

Uptown Lounge eventually became 8e's Bar and then now whatever the hell it is. Best place for happy hour downtown in the 90's.

I miss old downtown Athens but nothing will ever beat Son's and Steve's in the Spring.

I basically spent my entire freshman year at Sky's. That man almost killed me one time throwing a keg over the bar with one hand.
