I don't have any sources, but the piling on against McGarity seems a bit excessive. Maybe he's not as aggressive as some would like, but runnng an athletic department is not quite as black and white as people seem to think. At the very least, McGarity can serve as one of the checks and balances that prevent things from leaning too far in one direction.

Just like with our basketball team (or hell, with anything really) we tend to be reactionary based on what's happening RIGHT NOW. People really, really got fed up with mcg during the season and with good reason. The whole handling of the gurley situation was just an absolute nightmare from our entire athletic department. Not choosing to keep bobo, and make no mistake that was a choice by mcg, was also pretty confusing.

Fast forward a few months. We have a NFL vet as our OC. We have QC assistants out the wazoo. We've approved a $30M IPF that will likely be one of the few best in the country. Foley just got some very nice upgrades. Stegeman just got approved for some cool ones as well. I have issues with mcg, but he has definitely been doing things right the last couple months.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I didn't have a problem with the handling of Gurley's situation, and with what was revealed afterward I thought they did a very nice job.

As far as Bobo, he wasn't going to get paid $1.5M to be OC at UGA, or at any other program. He needed to make his name somewhere else and that was a good decision. Maybe McGarity could've changed his mind, but if Bobo wants to be a head coach, I'd guess he probably was leaning toward leaving.

Based on what has happened since Bobo left, I think it is pretty clear why.

Yea I don't think they offered bobo. Saw the backlash and started handing out raises to everyone not named Tony Ball.

I was lead to beleive they had a credible story to sell that would have kept it at two games, but there was a change of heart in large part due to the Swimming deal being so close and significant. I was also lead to beleive that the NCAA was basically waiting for our story, not kicking over stones looking for evidence... Maybe I was told wrong, but the premises were very plausible....

If they offer him $1M, he probably never gets on the plane to interview with CSU. Once that happened, it was over.

I think you're right. Apparently they are announcing all this next Tuesday during the ground breaking of the IPF
