Don't know much about this guy. Is he a plan B kid, signifying that we have given up on the SCAR legacy kid? I forget his name. Or have we been after this guy hard the whole time and just haven't been talking about him much?

UGA's been recruiting him for awhile. Offered in the spring iirc.

We have been after him hard for awhile. He is was LeCounte's high school teammate. He may only be a 3 star, but he is very underrated

I'll eat my share of crow lol.
Thought he was committing App. St. Weekend when he visited. I posted we'd get one and that's who thought it was.
He's been with us for a while, as have others.
Glad we got him, that Wyatt stayed, and I'm thinking one more will come up front that will be ranked higher than both.

Thanks to Hinesvillethrill for his info on his hometown kid and other info I've passed along that came from the him. It's all good news!

All the Scott haters can eabod's. Look at what's happening on Saturdays up front. Behind the scenes, he's doing big things. Just watch.

Coaches really liked what they saw from him. Think his rating is about right, based on how they somehow come up with it lol, but his potential is what got him the offer. He's still growing into his body. Got a lot of technique to work on.

Thanks for the info Crow, Breezy, Americus. Just hadn't seen his name much until recently and wondered if that was a white flag commit or a legit recruiting effort.

We need to win Saturday. Big night game with a lot of visitors. All the '19 Grayson kids will be there. Chatter that we aren't too far from several of those guys. Long way to go as well. Thinking of the possible 2019 roster will drive you full Disney.

Lot of FSU commits in the visitors from Grayson this weekend. Could be a bit concerning if Fields is around them.

Been after him since LeCounte was in school. He's just a really quiet kid.

Concerning for the Criminoles maybe. He'll be surrounded with a lot of others. Really big weekend with kids. Worked out great having State trounce LSU.

Fwiw- Field's family spent the night again in Athens last weekend. This is several times now. For months this has been looking really good. Since he told Penn St goodbye actually.

An UGA win and I guarantee that there commitment to FSU wavers a little bit

Just a tidbit I saw posted on the AJC site today, Jadon Haselwood was interviewed and stated he is "1000% committed" to the good guys and he had to show his boy Fields a good time this weekend. He then stated, "It's down to us and LSU".

That is a surprise to me as I thought the main draw of looking at Auburn, FSU, Florida, and UGA was to stay close to home. LSU looked like hot garbage at QB this weekend and it's around an 8-hour trip from Kennesaw, GA to Baton Rouge, LA. I'll take that as a good sign that it's really just the good guys and then some other teams floating around in the places behind us.

Also, LSU could only muster 7pts against Miss St, if we show up this weekend and put up a better offensive performance with a W, could Fields finally pull the trigger and commit?

I'd imagine a potential coaching change in the works for LSU, which won't help their case

No way! 3 games into a coaching career is not enough to get him hired. He has at least 2 years

If I'm a QB who wants to play right away, LSU qb looking like hot garbage would be a draw for me. Also I highly doubt it is down to just us and LSU.

Where have you read that he wanted to play right away? Everything I've read was to the contrary.

I think he sees that there are loads of successful NFL QB's that sat their 1st year in college and worked to get better and understand the game at a higher level before being asked to perform at a high level.

I personally would like him to be comfortable with the plays and be able to run the offense at a high-level versus getting nervous and just bailing to run every time he gets pressured as most DT guys do when they first start playing college or NFL fb.

From an article not long ago on Fields,

"But Fields has said several times that he doesn’t mind redshirting in college. He’s heard the stat about how the majority of NFL quarterbacks redshirted in college. He’s keenly aware of that."

Yeah I've read the same things. But its always with the caveat that if that situation presented itself, he would be ok with red shirting - not that he would prefer it. If he is presented two options like LSU and Georgia, the path to playing time is so much clearer at LSU. I hope we get him, but there's a difference between redshirting a year or potentially sitting three years behind Eason and Fromm.
