With Big Trent on board publicly now, watch the pieces fall into place.

Who's the next domino to fall? Any of our targets have an upcoming announcement?

WR Jayson Stanley is set to announce on Saturday.

Think Stanley will be influenced by the recent pick-up? What targets on the same side would/could be influenced?

I think Stanley was likely to pick UGA anyway. Roquan Smith will likely be the most influenced by Thompson. They're pretty good friends

I'm hoping that J. Sweat will see the advantage of playing with an elite DT or DE, depending on what we do with Trent.
It could be a negetive in his eyes with Floyd and Carter being soph. and fresh. might make early playing time hard to come by, unless he is one of those guys who loves competing with the best. I assume he would play the same kinda role.
But I'm sure if he can do what a #1 overall should be able to do, that Pruitt will find ways to have all 3 of them in the game at the same time.
But reguardless, Carter last year and TT this year, I'm loving this new razor wire fence we put up!
Now if we can plug some holes and keep these OT's in state we will be set.

I don't see him playing 1-technique, unless he can carry 320+ with out losing that first step. He looks, to me, more of a 3 or 5 tech. Depending on what Pruitt is doing.
It will be fun to see what this defense will look like this year and in the future.
Pruitt seems like he will adapt our alignments based on personal.

Floyd is 3 years removed from HS (1 year of prep school) so, with the type of season most expect him to have, he could potentially be a high draft pick in the 2015 Draft.

Also, Pruitt doesn't want 320+ noses anymore. He really doesn't want anyone to be much over 300. His emphasis is on speed, not size, basically a 180 from Grantham's philosophy. Some of our DL guys have dropped 25+ lbs since last season and all reports are that the unit looks much more athletic.

Am I wrong in thinking that while he prefers multiple sets that Pruitt is aiming for more of a 4 man front?

I thought prep school doesn't count against your eligibility. Technically he's still a true sophomore. So he wouldn't be eligible to be in the draft until 2016. Correct?

Pretty sure it's just 3 years outta HS to be eligible for the NFL draft...

From Wiki...
quote:

Eligibility..

Players who have been out of high school for at least three years are eligible for the NFL draft. The rules do not state that a player must attend college, but virtually all of the players selected in the NFL draft played college football. A year as a redshirt player in college counts toward eligibility even though the player was not allowed to participate in games during that year, therefore players who have completed their redshirt sophomore year can enter the NFL draft. A few players are also selected from other football leagues like the Arena Football League or the Canadian Football League.

NCAA eligibility and NFL Draft eligibility are different things.

Prep school wouldn't count against his 4 years of college eligibility, perhaps.

It also doesn't count against NFL draft eligibility.

In other words, Floyd gone.

Juco guys never ever ever stick around if there is even a hint they can make the league minimum for a year or two on a scout team.

You still have the 5 years to play 4 in the NCAA, but you just have to be 3 years removed from HS to declare for the draft.

Pruitt has been quoted as saying they're basically recruiting for a 4-2-5 since we're in nickel the majority of the time. Kind of a hybrid 3-4 base.

Think more like UF's personnel. A 1-tech (nose), 3-tech (like a 4-3 DT sort of), 5-tech (SDE), and Jack (DE/OLB hybrid like we used in Grantham's 3-4)

Thompson can be a 1-tech or 3-tech imo
