Ags have a great opportunity to get first SEC win in style in College Station

Ags offense gets another week under its belt and a chance to make another statement

Manziel's pure physical talent causing all kind of headaches and frustration for opponents

Ags physical defense looks great against the run

Ags pass rush is intimidating

Evans already looks like a beast at receiver and getting better each week

C-Mike should get out of the dog house and get back onto the field with meaningful carries with first team

D. Harris is a threat to return every kick his way. Sets SEC record for total yards in a game

Ryan Epperson leads SEC in punting. Can’t put a value on his ability to change field position

Field goal kicking is solid be every measure... a must in the SEC.

Best of all… Sumlin

- 3 games in with new offense, new QB, and new defense. Pretty incredible results so far.

- After Fran and Sherman it is GREAT to see some real enthusiasm on the sideline demonstrated. I liked Sherman but Sumlin’s fire on the sideline is addictive. Just what the Ags needed.

GIGEM AGS!

Agree with most of this. Except

Pretty incredible results so far

Our 2 wins are against SC State and SMU, and we choked in the UF game. Let's win a few SEC games before we claim incredible results.

and we choked in the UF game

You know, I happen to disagree with the "choking" comment. I didn't see any choking at all. What I saw was a very good Florida team with a very good SEC defense make adjustments at the half to contain Manziel. First game, new offense, new QB... and we couldn't overcome the adjustments Florida made.

I think the word "choke" is thrown around entirely too much. Sometimes the other team is just a little better. Ags loss to Florida was a far far far cry from a "choke".

The better team won on that day, perhaps in large part to the talent on the Florida team and the fact that our first game had been postponed while Florida had a game to work out some kinks.

Bottom line is that Ags played a very good SEC team very close with a new offense and defense. No shame in this at all. For this reason and the results of the last 2 games I do feel the results are pretty incredible so far.

When I say "incredible so far" I do mean up until today. If Ags lose 2 of the next 3, I doubt I will be saying "incredible so far". As of today, having played 3 games with all of the changes we have made and for all of the reason I stated, I still say the results are incredible so far.

But hey, that's just me.... GIGEM

I don't buy that KK choked or that the team choked. We just got beat. Florida had great athletes on defense and they ran some fantastic schemes that frustrated and confused our QB. He still didn't turn it over though, he just couldn't find openings to make plays.

Choking is what we did against the sips last year. We were far more talented and all we had to do was avoid turnovers and force them to drive the field on us. We then proceed to punt the ball to their stud PR and allow our PR to try and run up and grab bouncing punts surrounded by sips to try to gain 3 yards. We also kept throwing those high risk, low reward out patterns to Fuller even though we had been pick 6'd on it previously. We choked in that one.

We full on choked against UF. We had our way with them in the first half. The stats were something like 300 yards to 100. Much like Okie State last year. There's no excuse for losing based on the first half. We didn't adjust and had 3 and out after 3 and out. That's a choke job.

Eh I wouldn't say Florida game was a choke. Last year was a choke. What's the difference? Last year we had TURNOVERS to GIVE them the ball. We gave them opportunities to score. Florida game was no choke. No turnovers, they're defense top notch defense stepped up. Our inexperience kicked in and we started grabbing face masks. Or offense couldn't adjust to the adjusted Florida defense and we produced 3 n outs. NOT TURNOVERS. Not to mention ANYTIME we had moment there was an injury or a tv timeout

KK completely choked in the second half. It was like he forgot what his play book was. No runs on first putting us in 2nd and long followed by a QB draw or a WR screen which they blew up consistently to put us in a 3rd and long followed by forcing our inexperienced QB to try to convert in a crappy situation.

Completely different offense in the 2nd half than what we had in the 1st.

I guess it is all in how you look at it. Do you think we choked the OSU game last year away? I don't, it felt like they were a better team. I did feel like we choked the Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, and KState games away because we were a more talented team than any of them and had to do things to get them back in the game in terms of multiple boneheaded plays.

In the UF game it felt more like we caught them off guard early but they adjusted well and just outplayed us. I definitely didn't feel like we were more talented than UF either. I thought we had our chances to win and made some bad decisions (such as the timeout to ice their kicker) but those could have gone the other way. We weren't fumbling the ball away or throwing pick 6's or dropping easy TD's that allowed us to lose to a subpar opponent. I felt like our guys played hard and did their best, they just got beat by someone that did it a little better.

IIRC one of these was a QB Draw (which had been shut down multiple times in the second half) and the other was a scramble ... not a designed run ... So we had 2 drives with runs by an actual RUNning back and they both got us into a position where we were not in 2nd and long ... so why did we go away from this?

This offense needs to impress this week. Kingsbury isn't showing that he is a good OC he is showing he knows how to coordinate a back yard streetball game.

Who we were dismantling in the first half before our OC choked ... I don't care if he can put up "big points when they are supposed to" if they can't put up 7 points when it counts.

He didn't choke. UF made adjustments. They're a damn good team. JFF was in his first EVER college game. KK called a game that would allow him to use his strengths to his advantage as much as possible. UF caught on and took many of those advantages away. That's hardly choking.

The game called in the first half was much much different than in the second half. So what ... JFF could handle certain plays in the first but not in the second?

First half--JFF ran all over an unsuspecting UF defense

2nd half--Florida adjusted, taking away JFF's running effectiveness. Keep in mind JFF is a VERY green QB playing his first game against a defense that's the strength of UF's team--they were covering our receivers very well in single coverage and JFF wasn't yet ready to take a bevy of downfield shots.

Could the game have been called better in the 2nd half? Yes. But you're missing the fact that we lost more because UF completely changed what they were doing on defense and we weren't experienced enough to have an answer. That's not choking a la 2011. That's just getting beat by a better team.

You're right 2011 was poor execution by the team and shody conditioning.

The UF game was an OC who couldn't get his QB to throw down field and kept running QB draws and screens when UF was blowing them up left and right.

He could have tried going with the run more (you showed the drive breakdown, the RBs were productive to some degree). He could have also put in a different QB.

I am a huge Manziel fan, but if what you are saying is true the blame still falls on the coaching. 1) play calling, run the ball more 2) personnel, if your QB isn't running the play and is being neutralized in his scrambles put in a QB who can throw.

100% choke job

I'm not saying it's on the players by any means. It's the coaching and complacency. Like the other guy that agrees with me, in the first half we were put in a position to succeed. In the second we didn't put ourselves in a good position. Running the same bubble and draws that are obviously not working for the entire second half and honestly those plays didn't work in the first. The players played a hell of a game, UF lies on the coaches.

OSU was a choke because like with Florida we had our way with them in the first half. Then every single play in the second was bubble screen to Blackmon. And for some reason we couldn't stop it. Even though everybody in the crowd knew what was coming.
