As @theHart_ofTX on Twitter noted, our potential starting 11 on offense vs UCLA (3WR/1TE/1RB) is way heavier on transfers tham most realize

Transfers (including JUCOs):
QB Knight
RB Ford
WR Reynolds
WR Ratley
TE Cline
LT Gennesy
RT Eluemunor

HS recruits:
WR Kirk
OC McCoy
LG Prater/Lanfear
RG Sutherland

This is one thing I commend Sumlin for. Unable to win recruiting battles for HS kids (which is somewhat due to his own doing) he crushes transfer recruiting. These kids no longer have stars in their eyes and have lost their naïveté regarding the reality of playing in college - they just want playing time in a system that will showcase their skills. That kind of player is more likely to come here, since they no longer care about living in "Cool City, USA" or playing for "Prestige Helmet School University", and no longer give a rat's arse about who "shows them the most love". At the point of transferring, unless it is due to major rules violations, you are talking about kids with NFL aspirations who are going to look at coming here as a JOB.

Tra Carson, our only freaking running back last year, was a transfer. Carson was the epitome of a Lunch Pail Guy.

Mr Brandon Williams goes from all world 5 star RB to NFL corner. It was all about NFL aspirations.

Bingo. He was a guy who was real about treating it as a job. Put aside dreams of being Mr. Star RB, listened to his coaches and switched positions as a freaking senior, got a 4 year NFL contract. It's a different mentality.

Auburn, Baylor, and TCU also use this approach to building competitive teams.

Well that and the fact that we are close to momma for a lot of Texas guys who signed outside the state.

Or baby mamma.

This goes Louisiana kids who signed far out of state, too.

Some guys have to learn the hard way that Eugene, Oregon, however nice I personally think it is there, is much different culturally, in terms of climate, and in terms of the landscape, in addition to the distance. It's like going to a different planet for a kid from a city in Texas or the South. For some it is a better planet. For some it is just too far away and too alien to deal with.

Kirk Merritt could be a huge get. A&M is building a large contingent of LA athletes.

Speedy
Merritt
Colton Prater
Noel Ellis
Clifford Chattman
Don Wilson
Dwaine Thomas
Deshawn Capers-Smith
Kendall Bussey
Claude George
Shaan Washington
Clayton Bantle (probably a walk-on)
Clyde Chriss
TD Moton

We should have had Tyron Johnson too, but you can't beat stupid. Now he will have to be stuck in Stillwater.

Did. They did. That program is sunk now. They are going back to the good old Guy Morriss 'riding my Harley and acting tough' days.
