Do you think Michigan State was viewed that way a few years ago before they started contending?

Michigan State before recent success was like us for most of the Big 12 era- invisible. If you don't have success and you don't have laugh out loud failure then your non blue blood program is basically invisible.

A&M football is playing chicken with the maxim that any exposure is good exposure because we and Johnny can't get out of the spotlight due to the narrative created.

Just saw on TV that a judge ordered he and his ex have no contact while everything is playing out. He could get up to a year in jail for assault. That will only make the narrative worse for Tamu.

Top 2 headlines on ESPN are Johnny Mugshot and Moorehead's tweets

It's been this way for at least 35 years. The only thing we can do to stop it is start cranking out sports journalists at 5000 per semester to flood the market with Aggy bias.

Makes me wonder why the frick are we spending so much money on football facilities when the narrative is ALWAYS against us. We should invest in an massive media takeover.

I know one thing for a fact. If Ole Miss gets away with the shite they have been doing, we will have NO PROBLEM getting top talent. This is not speculation. I know a few BMAs in the area who have been talking shite about it recently.

They were already being stingy before this latest frick-up, I doubt the money taps open until Sumlin leaves or has another 10-win season.

I'm not sure I can trust such a fricktard like Moorehead to handle our WR crew when several of them will be trying to get drafted next year. Reynolds has been one of my favorite players since he got here and now I'm worried about the guys future.

Also non-speculation, verifiable fact.

I'm going to say it again, and again, and again: you don't recover from getting you arse kicked 59-0. Fran didn't recover from 77-0 and neither will Sumlin. Keeping him is a slow death.

I'm sorry, but when you lose your team frickING TWICE the way Sumlin did, so much that you get your arse kicked 59-0 then the next year both of your QBs transfer, then you don't need to be the HC at TAMU.

Our recruiting class was a disappointment this year, and 2017 will be loaded with "sleepers", or so we will be told. This team "may" finish 7-5 this year, but 2017 will be a brutal year for us.

Flame away....

I don't think any of us that post on here are. Neither have been committed for quite some time. Turning what would have been a small amount of negative press into a front page story on ESPN kind of symbolizes how this staff has managed things the last two years though

This is correct. And ESPN is wise to report how Sumlin has mis-managed multiple things, because it is the truth.

We have a long history of holding on to coaches too fricking long and letting them them dig deep holes for us. This is no exception - it's the Aggie Way.

As has already been stated, Martel leaving is not a surprise, and the other kid was just looking for an excuse to decommit too.

What is a problem is that we have no damage control from our football program. Perception does matter and right now from the outside A&M looks like a dumpster fire. We can pretend all we want that it's not a bad thing that Kyler left cause he's a little sissy and Kyle Allen wasn't man enough to compete but all recruits see is two 5 stars leaving within weeks of each other and wonder "what the hell is going on over there. I don't know if I want to play for a program that has stuff like that happening".

Sumlin needs to get off his arse and start doing damage control, it's just like the NFL rumors that resurfaced this year that he did nothing to combat. Normally a 5 star decommiting is just a small news story, decommits happen all the time, but we turn it into front page ESPN by handling the situation like crap. I really don't think this staff is cut out to run a program this big, we aren't getting a good return on what we paid for.

This

Perception is reality, and Sumlin apparently sucks at both. He is getting paid WAY TOO MUCH for such a poor off-field performance. This problem is enhanced and magnified by the continual decline of on-field performance.

If I am running the AD, I am already reaching out to the agents of replacement candidates and being ahead of the game when the time comes. I would be prepared to close a deal and announce a replacement immediately after the season ends if we don't see something special this fall.

We really didn't have that option at that point. The decision to keep Sumlin through the 2016 season at least via contract was made in 2013.

At least we're on ESPN. No such thing as bad publicity, right?

Its situations like these that make me wonder how in the world a coaching staff doesn't have some sort of no-negative tweets policy.

TBH, y'all will be 100x better off once you just cut the Sumlin cord and hire Chad Morris.
