The records are nearly identical after 52 games.
Slocum was 35-17 after 52 games
Sumlin is 36-16 after 52 games
Here's the difference.
Kevin Sumlin is 19-1 in nonconference games over that span including 3-1 in bowl games.
R.C. Slocum was 12-6 in nonconference games over that span including 0-3 in bowl games.
Kevin Sumlin is 17-15 in nonconference games over that span with 0 division or conference titles.
R.C. Slocum was 22-10 in conference games over that span with 2 division and 1 conference titles.
Slocum lost 3 total home games over that span, or as many as Sumlin did in the 2014 season alone.

ITs not the same level of competition at all. If ATM was in the big 12 the last few years they would have a better record than they do now. I am a big fan of RC, always respected he and his brand of football. I think his football would have fit in well with LSU and bama.

Keep in mind the Big 12 was much better then. KSU, NU, OU, CU, tu, and A&M were all very good most years.

Cedric Golsen said on the radio that the addition of tcu and WVU made the big 12 much stronger and tougher than it was 10 years ago. Said it on the Louis Belina show last week

There were, and still are, only 6 teams that ever won a Big 12 title game.
Oklahoma (7)
Texas (3)
Nebraska (2)
Colorado (1)
Kansas State (1)
Texas A&M (1)

Only OU is as good consistently as they were then. Better actually. Everyone else has been worse.
