Here's what I was able to find from the roster:

-There are currently 76 scholarship players on the Spring Roster (I refuse to acknowledge that Ke'Shun Brown is still on the team after the shite he pulled last summer). We need to have a combination of 5 attritions and 2021 class players that don't arrive to stay at 85 or under. If COVID rules change things then I have absolutely no idea.

Number changes and additions:

-Adarious Jones is now #6 (was #55)
-Blake Smith is now #11 (was #87)
-Eli Stowers is #17
-Shadrach Banks is #19
-Elijah Blades is now #19 (was #2, then #31)
-Darvon Hubbard is now #21 was #22)
-Deuce Harmon is #28
-Tyreek Chappell is #29
-Tunmise Adelaye is #30
-Jahzion Harris is #37
-Trey Zuhn is #60
-Derick Hunter is now #65 (was #6)
-Matthew Wykoff is #77
-Elijah Jeudy is #90
-Marcus Burris is #91
-Jordan Jefferson is now #94 (was #68)

Positions changes (all official now)

-Derick Hunter is now OL
-Jordan Jefferson is now DL

A lot of wild swings in height and weight, either because they weren't measured right coming out of high school or just some weird shite going on. Here are the most notable changes (height changes or weight changes 10+ lbs)

-Adarious Jones gained 10 lbs (305 to 315)
-Hezekiah Jones grew an inch (5'11 to 6'0)
-Zach Calzada grew an inch (6'3 to 6'4)
-Shadrach Banks gained 15 lbs (215 to 230)
-Josh Moten grew an inch (5'11 to 6'0)
-Tarian Lee gained 15 lbs (230 to 245)
-Earnest Crownover grew 2 inches (6'1 to 6'3)
-Tunmise Adelaye gained 55 lbs (240 to 295)
-Caden Davis shrunk an inch (6'2 to 6'1)
-Jahzion Harris gained 15 lbs (215 to 230)
-Edgerrin Cooper shrunk an inch (6'4 to 6'3)
-Smart Chibuzo lost 20 lbs (340 to 320)
-Trey Zuhn gained 10 lbs (300 to 310)
-Derick Hunter lost 10 lbs (310 to 300)
-Josh Bankhead gained 10 lbs (320 to 330)
-Grayson Reed gained 10 lbs (300 to 310)
-Aki Ogunbiyi lost 20 lbs (325 to 305)
-Matt Wykoff grew an inch (6'5 to 6'6) and gained 21 lbs (304 to 325)
-Baylor Cupp grew an inch (6'6' to 6'7)
-Elijah Jeudy gained 25 lbs (250 to 275)
-Marcus Burris gained 10 lbs (275 to 285)
-Jayden Peevy gained 15 lbs (295 to 310)
-Nic Constantinou grew 3 inches (6'0 to 6'3)

Baylor Cupp grew an inch (6'6' to 6'7)

So ready to see him play in a game.

I have seen two different interpretations of the new rules.

1) Seniors don't count towards the 85. So you just have to be under the 85 after subtracting out all of the returning Seniors. I counted 8 (which could be wrong). So we have plenty of room under this scenario

2) The new cap is 105 for scholarship players, just for this year Either way, we are good under this scenario as well.

The only difference in the 2 scenarios is how it affects the attrition we need for 2022 to get under the 85.

All I know is from the scrimmage reports I am even more certain that the starter is going to be King. And Wykoff has been a pleasant surprise at OL. More importantly from a WR perspective, Preston and Moose have been looking good.

I'm beginning to think Cupp will never play a down here, and the same goes for Matthews on the OL. Spring game is going to be a mess ...

Yeah I heard Cupp was in a boot? What happened?

Also, I heard King was missing some throws early

King has a command of the offense, and plays better when it isn't seven on seven - when playing situational football. Calzada has the arm, but continues to throw picks. I haven't heard Cupp was in a boot - just that he was out as was Matthews and Demas for precautionary reasons

Demas took a hit from Chappel even though he was wearing yellow jersey. We seem to be dinged up again

A lot of name players on the team will not be playing in this game. Demas is out, Cupp is out, several of the OL as well. It will be a good chance to see some of the backups, but don't expect too much

Who's 83? Dropped a wide open pass for a TD today.

I swear it is going to be King, who has really nice touch on some of his passes, including the deep ones. Calzada throws nothing but fastballs. Hez Jones had a bad day - dropped a bunch of passes. Defense looks good as expected

I went back and rewatched the spring game Calzada looked good.

I’ll bet he ends up getting the job

The problem that Calzada is going to have with Fisher is that he has to actually win the job, coming from behind. King took ALL of his snaps with the first team offense (and has all Spring). Calzada did not. King has touch on his passes that Calzada hasn't quite learned yet. Also, every single deep ball Calzada threw was overthrown, so his deep ball leaves a LOT to be desired. His tendency to force the ball also leads to more INTs according to players on the team.

Add the athleticism and King is currently the incumbent. Calzada is going to have to improve in the offseason, and be better at not throwing every ball at 100mph every down to have a shot of unseating King from that starter role.

I'm glad it isn't cut and dry, so that the loser cannot transfer until after the season. But one of them will not be here next Spring

I gotta be honest, I’ve heard a lot about how good king is and how he’s been doing but I wasn’t impressed by him in the spring game.
Athleticism and speed is great but I want whichever QB can make all the throws on the field. I think we’ll be in good hands no matter what, but I’m betting Calzada gets it. Could totally be wrong.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I thought King played well, but that the backup WR's actually were better than the starters. I cannot begin to count the number of dropped passes, especially from Jones. I just watch mannerisms, and Fisher's actions say that he definitely favors King.

I'm not sure it is fair, but I seriously doubt that Calzada wins the job. King would have to really screw up in the Fall for that to happen - if it remains close, he will be favored. I like Calzada, but he has to learn some consistency, and that every pass doesn't have to be 100mph

I can't understand how Hezekiah Jones is a starter. He hasn't scored a touchdown his entire career and drops more balls than Camron Buckley.

Jones just sucks. There is no nice way to put it. And Smith is still learning the WR position - that is an easy touchdown if he doesn't break towards the defender at the goal line and towards the outside pylon instead. We are going to need Demas to step up, and for Price and Moose to continue improving.

Chase isn't bad, but those end zone fades need to be to either Demas or Price.

Oh, and if you don't think King isn't the favorite, you should watch Fisher's press conference. Kid could do no wrong in his eyes. It goes along with what I observed with Fisher chewing out the WR's, not King. Chewing out the OL when they didn't give him time, etc ...
