I would assume because we haven't been able to line up a big hire to replace him with. Rumor is we sent feelers to Herman and he told us to pound sand.

Boosters don't understand that giving Sumlin an ugly, abortive exit in early January will put us on the coaching Z-list

Just let Sumlin make his hire, give him 2016, and do it the right way

I'm certainly finding myself in that camp if it's true coaches like Herman are telling us to frick off. To fire sumlin and end up with a third or fourth choice coach seems like a recipe for disaster.

But how much are we set back doing nothing and falling in next years recruiting class too?

Just my opinion, but a recruiting class or two is extremely irrelevant compared to finding the right coach. Making a rash decision on the HC because of a single recruiting class could be a 5-10 year issue.

I would agree with that.

We should give Sumlin another two seasons if he makes a great hire, then kick Chad Morris in the nuts with a steel toe boot full of hunnerds and drag his arse back to CS.

I say we make a serious run at Chip Kelly on the side. If it looks like he's interested, cut KS loose.

I have every expectation Chad Morris will get SMU to a bowl next year and be on our speed dial

I don't share your optimism in Morris as being this savior, but he's also just one season in.

Are we not capable of hiring a good coach with no previous A&M ties?

It is harder than it used to be. Look at all the programs that expected to get Herman this year that didnt. We live in an era where its harder than ever to get a splash hire. Michigan was the last one to do so, and he was an Alum.

And they shelled out massive cash to get him, too.

No way. Who would take the UH job over a job at (one of the) the Flagship?
