Mus admit I had never seen Mondo throw before last night. IMO he has a low trajectory on the longer throws. Means he has to be on target because the receiver can't really adjust to the ball. He isn't accurate enough to have that type of trajectory... or at least he wasn't last night. We had guys breaking open on deeper routes and the balls were badly overthrown. I think Kirk had 3-4 yards on defenders at least twice and he basically pulled up well before the balls hit the ground.

While I am bitching... anyone else think Ags were moving the ball well with Starkel and were surprised to see Mondo come out to take snaps 2 series in a row? One series here and there I can understand but why take Starkel out for half a quarter?

Is there some kind of record for fricking up QBs that Sumlin is going for? If so, surely he has it by now.

He's the opposite of a "Quarterback Whisperer".

saw mond twice on tv while in HS and i couldnt figure out why he was a 5 star recruit. He basically looked like a better version of trevor knight but after last night thats not even close

I mean, the kid is a true freshman making his first D1 start, let's give him more than one game before we write him off. no he didn't look good last night against a bad ucla defense, but there will always be growing pains with a young QB. Hopefully whoever comes in next year can actually develop him into a good passer that remains a decent running threat too.

Burning his redshirt was pointless. We'd have been better off putting Hubenak in once Starkel was hurt.

I think "didn't look good" is an understatement. He looked freaking terrible. He was missing guys by a country mile

Mond needed to redshirt this season, period.
Santino I think is in fact redshirting.

We passed on Stidham for a QB who looked no better than Kyler Murray and a wide receiver who had three drops in the second half and a whopping 15 total yards.

Let that sink in.

We have given so many programs the ammunition to undermine our QB recruiting.. Why in the world would a stud QB want to play for Sumlin? I'm not convinced we truly passed on Him. Maybe we passed on Stidham because there was no shot to get him to A&M in the first place.

There was definite interest early on so something happened.

I think the plan was to burn his shirt the whole time, I've seen talk sumlin basically promised him playing time just like he did with kyler. If true, dude obviously doesn't learn from his mistakes.

Ok, yes he flat out sucked. We all thought Trevor knight was a terrible passer and mond makes Trevor look like tom Brady. Again, it was literally his first game as a true fish. Give the kid some slack and let's not write him off just yet.
