Agreed on that. Much respect to LSU for agreeing to play us at the end of the year. They didn't have to cooperate with that at all.

Are they ever gonna get back to 12 and get a championship game? The landscape is kind of picked over but they lose a ton of exposure without it.

They're more interested in hiring Disney to refurb their trash cans and scheduling marquee games in cartel country than addressing any real issues.

It's probably not a possibility but if they were smart they would at least try to throw a bunch of money at the Arizona schools. I'm sure they wouldn't and couldn't leave the PAC but they could set up a nice south-north with the AZ and TX schools in the south. More likely they would end up with like Cincy and UCF or USF if they tried to expand though

"Hey Ken, if we go to the USC game should we convert our nest egg account to a ransom payment account?"
"Nah Barb, spray tan treatments and end every sentence with 'Ese'."

if anything ever happens between PAC schools, it will be through USC and UCLA considering they run the conference for the most part. they wouldn't let the AZ schools get poached

I wouldn't go that far. I think the SEC kinda forced them into it, but they are being pretty good sports about it.

Slive wants us to succeed as much as we do. He basically rested his legacy on the 2011 expansion, and that is only a grand slam if we become THE program in Texas. A marquee game at a time when Texans look for a big game was needed to get us there.

That was the single and most fundamental mistake the sips did- they assumed that after we went to the SEC we would be the "same old aggy" and we would squander any advantages we have as a SEC team.

What they didn't realize, and still don't get, is that the smartest guys in the country when it comes to college football (as shown by SEC dominance) has made a huge bet on our behalf that they expect to collect on. We are not fending for ourselves anymore, the people who basically own college football have decided to remake us (as in our brand) in their image.

The sips wonder why we are more exciting than them despite the same regular season record. They blame Mack, or JFF, or the helicopter or whatever they can throw the dart at. What they miss is that the most powerful men in college football are gunning for their warchest so that the entire SEC can prosper.

Texas's revenues are not a birthright, and we have cut the deal with the SEC that we are happy to share the loot if they will help us with the plundering. Hence the LSU game on T-day, good CBS spots for our big games, tons of extra promotion provided by the SEC, and a brand overhaul provided by the SEC.

And Sharp is a smart enough guy to play ball and step up the game on our end (new stadium, etc.).

It really is lose-lose for our local competitors, even if they realize what they are fighting its too late to surrender. Texas was too stubborn to join the SEC and give them access to Texas's riches of recruits and money, so the SEC, using us as a proxy, are taking it from them.

Its the cold war all over again, and the Big 12 is the collateral damage we now call Afghanistan.

But the problem is anyone they add is a loss of prestige, money and exposure. All that is left is crap and projects.

Even if UCF is a very good team, a top 20 team, Texas would never get the credit beating them that we get beating an unranked Georgia or Arkansas.

The deck is stacked against them for once and they have no good moves outside of waiting. If they bring someone else into the Big 12 it is that harder to blow the whole thing up in a decade.

The best thing Mizzou ever ever ever did was force them to agree to a ten year GOR then splitting.

That was what my Super Nintento would have called a

I feel like they are locked into expanding east now that they have WVU.

Sucks for SMU and Houston b/c the Big 12 will have to essentially kill the AAC's long term prospects to do that.

Poor freaking SMU and Houston. Thought they were upgrading to the big-boy table, only to have it all come crashing down around them.

True but that's a good thing for LSU and A&M.

This is probably true. WV is so geographically out of place in that conference. They basically have to add Cincy if they go to 12

they really fricked up by adding TCU instead of UofL. theyd have another eastern team for WVU and would have entered a new market

Yeah, but did the AD from Louisville have a similar life story to Dodds?

No doubt. UL plus WVU plus BYU plus San Diego St. and the Big 12 is really competitive and into new markets. Would have been upgrades from a TV footprint point of view.

Worst run major conference of the big 5.

Or did the AD from Louisville not like to get drunk at 12:30 in the afternoon like the TCU AD did.

Very much so. Couldn't hope for better professionals when it comes to plundering and looting than SEC fans!

either way, the sips got beer goggles when looking into TCU and I just find it so fricking funny
