Incredibly apropos!

Hadn't seen that vid before. Have always loved the song, though.

Great episode guys! I loved the energy and enthusiasm! Got me really pumped for the the Nevada game, which will be the first game I get to go to in person this year.

I really liked the talk about the excitement in Kyle Field and the direction our program is heading. It is such a stark contrast to the "what do you wish for in a new AD?" threads on sips boards where they whine about the ticket increases because the home schedule is crap. Mr. Pugh is 100% correct the excitement around the SEC can't be duplicated, and it is so funny seeing so many of them delusionally demand an AD that can rewrite the realignment story into their own piece of fanfiction. They just want the excitement we have.

With that said I disagree with not valuing style points. I mean in theory style points suck, but so do lost rivalries and the SEC's rotating division schedule. College football is the epitome of the saying "life isn't fair," and 100+ teams and 5 major conferences vie for 4 playoff spots it recently actually got worse rather than better. What 30 years ago in the bowl days was an arbitrary data point (how much you blew out a team) is now used to make decisions with huge consequences for programs and conferences. Maybe one day college football can be more than a popularity contest, but until that day it helps to pander to voters.

Hope you have fun at the game this week, and thanks again for the podcast!

I actually agree with this up to a point voter pandering goes a long way, but I think getting experience for your 2 and 3 deep goes even further so long as you're winning solidly. As we saw on The Pulse this week, Sumlin made it a point of emphasis that the backups need to be ready when called upon--much more ready than they demonstrated in the 2nd half of the Ball State game. I'd much rather have guys gain that valuable game experience and be ready/able to tangibly contribute in shirt order rather than score 80 on Directional Tech with starters. At some point, the law of diminishing returns goes into effect, imho.

But I think we both can agree that as long as you keep winning impressively, we're splitting hairs about style points for the most part

Thanks for the feedback/input! Already looking forward to the post-nevada OAFC

ETA: not gonna make this game, I'm afraid. Thought I was going to, but had something come up. It's all good tho.

I have been trying to cut the word count. That was only a big post because they deserved it for such a great podcast.

If you want though the words are ready to flow at any time.

We already recorded ours for the week (usually break down the previous week's game with a former Aggie player on Mondays), but I'd be cool with doing a guest spot on your show or an extra Rant-centric episode of mine. You have my email--lemme know what works best for ya
