Update

He's doing better today. Discovered today that he has 4 doctors. They all have different agendas and its becoming a balancing act to figure out what's really going on. So he is progressing physically faster than mentally. Which is making them worried. He passed his neuro test today so that's a plus. He told me he's going to be ready for Aggie football in September. Surgery might've been postponed not 100% sure. So till tomorrow.

Stay strong, I know from the doctor perspective how frustrating consult teams and multiple specialities working on the same patient can be. I imagine it's even more so from the patient side.

Where is he having his bypass if you don't mind my asking?

Redacted due to update. Don't want to put a place on blast that is currently taking care of my dad. The balloon pump is coming out today.

Sounds like progress. Keep your head up and stay positive. I know that is hard to do- my dad had a heart attack last year- but at this point being positive and having faith it will work out is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family.

Thank you for the update.

Update -

So he's doing better today. Holding full conversations and joking around. He is struggling with remembering what happen the days before. We have to explain to him everyday what happened. He doesn't fight the fact he is in the hospital just doesn't know why. He is beginning swallowing rehab. Hopefully he can get well enough for the surgery soon. Just to get well again.

So my mom is close to going on a tear on the ICU floor staff. When she got there this morning he was yelling for help and had the call button pressed. It took 15 minutes from the time my mom walked into his room for anyone to respond. He had been sitting in his urine that entire time my mother had been in his room. When they finally got there they only offered excuses (I have other patients) and not apologies. (This is the fact that has my mother ready to explode). The load on the staff is 2 patients to 1 nurse. That just seems ridiculous to me that someone couldn't respond in a quicker amount of time.

So I finally have a status change today. He's doing leaps and bounds better. He has been fitted with an electroshock vest. So he can go home and relax before he has surgery next Friday. The Friday date is not set in stone just a tentative date currently. So here hoping his double bypass goes well.
