In the Colorado game Calzada threw it 38 times. In the Pig game he threw it 36 times. That's 74 passes in two games that were essentially one score games throughout. This does not include the times Calzada dropped back and was either sacked or scrambled for yards.

Vs CU and Pig Our RBs ran the ball in both games a COMBINED 34 times. 8 and 12 for Spiller with Achane going for 9 and 5.

Jimbo is basically having Calzada pass 40 times per game and is giving our two world beater RBs a piddling 17 carries combined per game.

Someone had a stat earlier this year that, when Smith, Spiller and Achane have at least a certain number of touches we have only lost once and we are below .300 otherwise.

He should just take the USC job so we can promote Elko.

It truly is mind boggling why we don’t run the ball more. I realize our O line sucks but they suck at pass blocking too, might as well run it some, especially when Arkansas is rushing only 3 guys!

I’m not going to lie, there’s some stretches during these games with calzada when Fisher is calling pass after pass after pass that isn’t working that reminds me of Kyle Allen hurt in that game vs ole miss where he had like 15 straight incompletions and Sumlin refused to try anything different. And that scares me. Jimbo is supposed to be better than that.

very surprised yall didn't run it more.

Figured Wydermyer would have gotten targeted more too.

Screw Wydermyer, dropping passes left and right that hit him in the hands. He needs to go ahead and opt out and let someone willing to put in some effort get the snaps, he's clearly looking ahead to the draft after all of the off-season hype. Is Cupp healthy yet?

Baylor Cupp is an urban legend at this point.

Yes he is. Definitely fallen off. Not the same guy at all.

Someone was saying on another site that Calzada was checking OUT of called run plays for Spiller after the TD. If that's the case he needs to be permanently benched if he is that arrogant.

Doesn't help that all those pass plays are to the fricking flat for an average of 4.2 yards per pass. If ran options we'd be back in 2008. Frachione is running the offense.

I believe that is exactly what Calzada was doing because Fisher coaches the QB's to put us in the best play based on defensive alignment. Throwing on 1st down can be very effective but you have to be productive when you do it. Calzada also needed to be quicker to see and take easy running yardage when the opportunities were there to scramble.

With the current state of the OL, the run game is pretty bad.

When a team rushes 3 and drops 8 back, you must make them pay for that. They cannot do that against a mobile QB. They will get torched.

Like when the rush 3 and drop 8 into coverage?

Yeah. It was driving me crazy watching those opportunities wasted.

Blaming an overwhelmed QB for crappy run/pass distribution seems weak. Just call a damn run play and don't give him the option to switch out.

We should have mixed in some called quarterback draws. Hit the gap between 55 and the nose tackle to make 55 slow down his rush.

THIS

You must punish a team for dropping 8 into coverage.

Wasn't the long TD run between LT and LG?

Fisher is convinced that Calzada can win games - but from what I've seen he simply isn't capable of processing things fast enough to do so. Should be running the ball as much as possible

You can even go to a 2 tight end set, chip him every play, and run directly at him w/Spiller to slowly wear his arse out.

We did absolutely nothing to counteract that guy.

I just do not understand abandoning the run the way we did. I don't want to hear anything about RPOs from Jimbo. It's clear Calzada was rattled. Simplify the game for him. Don't even give him give him the option to pick a pass over a run.

I understand expecting the quarterback to direct the offense, but if the QB is incapable of it, you HAVE to micromanage.

Anyone else think we will see this offensive line on Saturday?

LT - Kenyon Green
LG - Aki Ogunbiyi
C - Bryce Foster
RG - Layden Robinson
RT - Deuce Fatheree

For the life of me I don't understand why Robinson isn't at center (his natural position) and Foster at RG (HIS natural position).

Please tell me Johnson isn't back at LT this week. He is the Colton Prater of this line.
