Awesome win

The reasons why Kennedy is a poor coach were all still evident as they always have been. No reason why smart fans cant be happy with the win and still understand the big picture.

Kennedy will make the tournament with a loaded roster this year, probably get run in the round of 32 then return to the NIT next year when we lose House, Jones, Caruso, etc. It's just the way its gonna be.

How do you even get out of bed in the morning?

I seriously don't think there's anything any sports team could ever do that would make you happy. Winning 100-2 at the half? OMG how did they let him get in the lane for that layup!!!?!?

Billy Kennedy is a great coach. Deal with it.

I love you dawg, but either you dont believe this or dont know much about the Xs and Os of roundball.

If Dave Campo was made head coach of the Patriots and won a Superbowl, is he a good head coach? Of course not, because we have a huge body of work proving he isnt. Letting your team outclass inferior talent doesnt make you a good coach, it makes you an opportunist.

What I understand is that anytime our team does anything good, coaching has no effect and the other team was obviously terrible.

Yea probably. Once it was a 30 point game they were mainly running clock and giving bench dudes some run.

They only even got to under 20 b/c for whatever reason Baylor was still fouling and launching 3s w/2 minutes left. Even then it took a buzzer beating 3 to drop it to 19.

Baylor is a solid team. They won't finish the year ranked as they are about the fifth best Big 12 team but they are solid. We just thoroughly outclassed them. They simply couldn't match our skill across the board. If we played that game at a neutral site ten times, we'd win 8 of them. We are LOADED this year, this is an elite 8 caliber team or better with good coaching.

It was a great win over a good team that had everything to do with us having more good basketball players than they did.

Meanwhile, our fundamentals are still poor, we don't shoot FTs well, our half court sets continue to be abysmal and our zone defense rotation is very sluggish. All the things that involve being "coached up" in the game of basketball we are from average to bad in all of them. What we do well and why this team will save Kennedy's job is making plays in the open court, getting loose balls and disrupting shots due to our great length and generally out-athleting most of the teams we play because we have a lot of future NBA players on this team. We also finally have enough shooters to hold our own against zone defenses (which we are incapable of beating otherwise because again our half court sets are not good).

In 2013 DJ Hogg would have been our second leading scorer. He didn't even get on the court until what, five minutes left in the first half last night?

I think its more likely you don't know as much as you think and do more ball watching than you realize.

Is that a poorly formed gay joke? Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

Anyway, eventually I'll be proven right. Enjoy this season, because it will not be repeated barring more national 5 classes brought in by Stansbury.

Wait, you think being told you might have a problem with ball watching is a gay joke?

and you position yourself as Mr Basketball Mind here?

It reads like you are accusing me of watching the player's balls more than the actual game.

Not the most sensical thing, but that's sure what it reads like to me

I'm sorry but if you can't figure out what I meant (and I'm surprised you seem to have never heard this phrase) then you are nowhere near the basketball brain you think you are.

Ball watching is when you watch the player with the basketball instead of what all else is happening on the floor. Holy hell dude. NBA announcers use that phrase all the time when a player fricks up and loses his man on D. It's what people constantly bash the frick out of James Harden for doing when he attempts to play defense.

Never heard that in the context of a fan watching the game.

Anyway, I've devoted a couple lengthy posts here to breaking down our poor off ball play in detail do we can dispel that idea.

and your posts are incorrect

I specifically looked out for it vs Baylor and there was quite a bit of off ball movement up until the game got out of hand in the second half and we started running clock.

A couple really nice plays such as Caruso's nice cuts help cloud the overall theme, which is our wing players still play too much "wait and see" basketball.

it was much more than a couple of nice plays but go ahead and dig in if you must.

I have 4+ years of data to fall back on, I don't need to dig in

You really shouldn't get so hot and bothered just because someone refuses to have their better judgement clouded by an outlier. You can support Aggie sports without believing all our coaches are good.
