Anyone old enough to remember Charlie Ward at Florida State?

That's an interesting comparison. I was too young to see him live, just remember him in the NBA. Manziel is that kind of athlete, I just hope he turns out as good as Ward was.

I remember watching Ward's junior and senior years. Believe it or not, he only had 840 COMBINED rushing yards and 10 TD those years.

Also, the 1992 and 1993 Seminoles ran almost exclusively out of the shotgun. Their running back...a 5'7 back by the name of WARRICK DUNN.

Charlie Ward! Excellent comparison Of course, my favorite memories of Ward were of his New York Knickerbockers falling in the '99 Finals to my Spurs, but when Ward actually did a stint in SA in the twilight of his career, I went back and watched a ton of his FSU highlights. Hell of an athlete--if Manziel can even become a poor man's version of him I'll be a very happy camper

Ward's breakout game. See any similarities?

Ward is definitely the best comparison I've seen. Isn't Johnny an incredible hoops player too?

I'm most definitely old enough; though I'm not sure I agree w the comparison.

Manziel reminds me so much of Bucky Richardson, it's ridiculous.

The giant yellow jacket is awesome

I remember watching Charlie Ward as a kid, man he was good. I think it is a valid comparison. To me he has a resemblance to Colt. He has a similiar arm stregnth, but with better footspeed and quickness.

Don't think he played hoops at Tivy, he was a pretty solid baseball player though, think Oregon wanted him for both.

I've been on this bandwagon as well. Another good comp is Kevin Murray before he broke his ankle but that really predates a lot of folks. The tough thing to find in a comp is someone as fast as he is (low 4.4s) with moves and really a pass first QB.

Bucky had attitude in common with JFF but that's about it. Bucky was an LB playing QB and every time he threw the ball you held your breath. Running the option though Bucky was a beast. Have his autograph on my 12th Man Towel.
