I figured this is a better place to discuss it than the rant, but it's interesting considering the point we are at as a football program LINK
Hyman sucks and is universally disliked among our fanbase, and rightfully so. But there is a lot of truth in what he says and most of us knew it before he said it.
The obvious take from this is that he is a spineless pussy who wouldn't stand up to our boosters (shocker), but I certainly hope Woodward is when it comes to this next coaching hire and the subsequent running of the program. If we can't get out of our own way, it might be tough for us to land that home run hire we want.

What were those reservations?
I had heard they ran athletic department, which was just a rumor. When I got into it, that was my biggest surprise. The quality of people was terrific.
Did you enjoy your time at A&M?
Parts I enjoyed and parts that I did not. There were situations they did not let the athletic director do their job. People there wanted to run the athletic department and not let the athletic director do it. It was so political. Because of that it’s made it difficult to achieve of what you wanted to do.

I've always been confused about this toxic BMA/Booster situation at any school. I assume the boosters are considered "powerful" because of the amount of money they have donated, and the "powerful" boosters tell the Coach/AD if you don't do _______ I won't donate any more money?

What a weasel!
I could understand if he wasn't retired and still had job security to worry about. But the dude is retired! He should have called out the people responsible or not talked at all. He really comes off as a spineless little twat.

He was arse my dudes. I don't see how our boosters are more involved than any other major program. They absolutely meddle, no doubt, but how is that different from a school like UT?Or Ohio State? It's up to him to stand up to those people and make the right decisions regardless. He can try to shift the blame around all he wants, but that doesn't resonate with me

That is kind of what I have always wondered. Are we worse than any other major football program?
I have always thought the difference is good departments have an AD that is able to manage those egos. Maybe I am totally off on that though

I dont think so. Not after what LSU boosters did to miles and just the general involvement of UT boosters

I think the difference is that you need an AD who can stand up to those type of people. Hyman couldn't

Truth.
So can the majority of BMD's too I imagine.

We're the most major program he ad'ed at. Basically all he said was that he as the up to a job of our level. He may as well have said USCe was his peak, and he was most comfortable at tcu.

Please clarify this. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

Sorry, posting on my cell. The A&M job was above him. He wasn't up to the task.

Granted I'm at a distance, but to me he didn't even seem to like A&M very much.

We're bad. But we aren't the worst. The Longhorn boosters basically cocked blocked Charlie Strong in public and in closed doors. Nebraska fired Pelini for averaging 9.4 wins per season. Granted he was an a-hole, but he overachieved. (Nebraska needs to adjust their expectations. Partial and non qualifiers are never coming back. They're no better than Iowa nowdays)

But why would A&M give Sumlin such a deal when there was no need?
“Because people didn’t know what they were doing,” Hyman said.
If a 22-year-old student comes to you and says they want to be you and be a Power 5 college AD, what do you tell them?
I’d say have a lobotomy first
You outed yourself, CGSC.
