I've decided to go to the game in Columbia this year. I was wondering if anyone has gone? How's the tailgating? Is it worth it as an opposing fan? Am I good in Aggie gear or do I have to be in neutral clothes?

You need to be sure to jizz all over the state capital. They LOVE that.

Their tailgating set up by the stadium looks very official.

Tailgating is cool. The cabooses are ok. It's kinda dusty around there. Hard to tell the difference in the colors when there's so many people.

I am pretty sure Columbia is plenty big to have their own airport.

It looks a lot different than the last time LSU came to town.

For example: None of that green was there. It was an old and ugly farmer's market. Stuff has even been updated since that last pic.

1) The parking lot that's actually right next to the stadium has been torn up and a nice, new plaza has been put in it's place.
2) There's a new indoor practice facility that would be behind that camera and behind all that parking.

To the OP: I'll give you access to the SC board. Feel free to ask there, they'll be able to give you some good info I'd imagine.

Tailgating was fun, good lots around the stadium.

The shitty part about games there is that the stadium is offsite away from everything, which means traffic really sucks leaving. There's absolutely nothing within walking distance worth going to, at least to our knowledge. You either have to stay and tailgate for a long time to wait for traffic to clear out, or sit in traffic. We waited at tailgate for an hour or two. Would've been nice to get more time experiencing the bar scene after the game.

You can fly into Columbia direct from Houston, I would guess Dallas also. I looked at flights back when I was considering going to the game two years ago. Charlotte was also close and cheaper

3 old farts and father of old fart had a great time on Road Trip '14. Kenny Hill going apeshit didn't hurt, of course. But the fans were very friendly and we never had any problems. "Problems" you might see mentioned by those attending Midnight Yell Practice are bullshite. USC fans turned out in droves to defend their turf, and I thought that was very cool. We didn't have any problems there. Talked to many of them, and they were rational humans... unlike Texas Tech fans, for example.

We ate mustard-based BBQ Saturday noon. And yeah, that sounds like sacrilege but it was very good. Friday night we ate at Blue Marlin, walking distance to the Capitol building and it was excellent. Sidewalk entertainers were very good. That whole area you should definitely check out.

Gameday, the sumbitches pulled out Kyle Carpenter for a pregame speech. USC student and MOH recipient. Dirty pool, sez me. I really, really thought that doomed us. And if KH hadn't gone off, it might have. That crowd was amazing (for a while). They were every bit as loud as Kyle Field early in the game.

I don't get why the stadium design doesn't get more mentions. The damn thing looks like an alien spaceship. I admired that.

Have a great time!

Dude in the white hat is my Dad. Last name starts with S. He lives in El Campo now, his hometown, but raised my sister and me in Victoria. That who you're thinking about?
