Unlike some here, I like KDS and think he finally has the coaching staff to get 'er done. But Stallings ain't wrong:

A lot of people are going to be pissed he came out and said it but he's right. At a certain point after a pattern of behavior you have to call a spade a spade. I wonder how much influence he has if any within our donor circle

My first thought was "why do this?", but if it influences Sumlin to exercise more discipline over the players and, fer frickin' cryin' out loud, his coaches, then I'm all for it. Try to imagine the Chalk Talk fiasco happening at Alabama. Unless you're stoned out of your mind, you can't do it.

I've no idea how much, if any, influence he still has.

ETA: Not that I want Sumlin fired at all, but maybe it is time he gets called onto the carpet by others.

It's a put up or shut up year/cycle in a lot of ways for Sumlin.

I think he has the coaches/hosses to make some noise, too. He has zero positive capital to work with, though, IMO.

Rooting for him to breakthrough this year. Because that means A&M breaks through, obviously. Would rather he finally put it all together on and off the field so we don't have to rebuild.

I only take issue with his comments regarding manziel. Maybe not all, but the majority of college football programs and coaches would have done everything they could to get a player of manziel's caliber on the field as quickly as possible considering the infraction stallings referenced. And I place absolutely zero blame on the part of the coaches for what they did, or maybe didn't do, in regards to manziels behavior and everything that has transpired since.

Sumlin did a great job with Manziel. There's no helping that boy. Anybody that thinks Sumlin could have changed a thing about Johnny doesn't understand Johnny.

If anything, in hindsight it's fricking amazing how he kept Johnny on the rails enough to be a productive player given Manziel's apparent proclivities

People may not like it, but Mr. Stallings is right.

The buck stops with Sumlin.

When the coaching clinic had screen shots put out on the net, I thought some joker was trying to be funny. In no way did I think those would have ever seen the light of day and were done by staff members.

I don't blame Sumlin at all for this offseason bullshite:

At the time I chimed in hoping for Jake Matthews to punch him in the gut hard, and that's when Roger gave me my signature quote.

The subsequent autograph thing may be on Sumlin, but it's hard to place blame there.

And I can't blame him for bringing in the locker-room cancer Kyler. We'd have all crucified him if he didn't land that kid.

But the Chalk Talk debacle and Moorehead's tweets I think are all on him. He could have an "Intro to Aggie Coaching" seminar that consisted of a single line: "Don't be a dumbass." But as far as I can tell he isn't doing that.

The Moorehead tweets never really bothered me.

Eh... a coach responding to a high school player's decommitment on Twitter is just never a good thing. There's no good outcome there.

I think it's hilarious that everyone was bitching about Sumlin not hanging on the Turner, we get him back and everyone is super pumped, then the dude does something stupid (like he did in Miami), and that is somehow Sumlin's fault.

I don't blame Turner for whatever those clowns did in Miami. They're grown-arse men. If Turner somehow encouraged deviant behavior then that's different. But as far as I know nobody has accused him of that.

Stallings might be speaking some truth, but, now is not the time to be airing this stuff out if he still has any regard for the program. Fall camp is just kicking off and we are trying to stay out of the national spotlight after the chalk talk fiasco and recent decommits.

Stallings was FIRED by us. His true love lies with Alabama. Always has, always will. He is butthurt about A&M not showing love to his grandson, who is and always was going to Clemson. He is an old senile jackass. The guy is entitled beyond belief, is a fake who hides behind a good guy act, and I hope he croaks soon. He has said multiple negative things about A&M over the years, and it always amazes me how our fanbase still thinks he is a good Aggie and doesn't realize that the guy is ALL about Bama and Bear Bryant and still has a sore spot for A&M. This right here proves it once and for all. If he has a problem with Sumlin or the AD, he should go to Sumlin or the AD, not flap his toothless gums to the media (about a place that fired him for doing a terrible job) and take a shot at the program just as it goes into fall practice. He has hurt A&M, yet again, with this. It is NOT AT ALL the same as anonymous people on the internet. What he says gets picked up by the media and carries weight, which is why he should have done the honorable thing (which he never has) and kept his mountains of butthurt to himself.

Agree that now isn't the time to go public with this type of stuff.

Absolutely not. And that's coming from someone who is not fan of Sumlin. It doesn't matter at all if anything he said was true or if ALL of it was true. That was not the forum for him to air his grievances. Period. He has plenty of contacts in the AD and within the donor class for him to do that in private and that's actually a forum where what he says may matter anyway.

So why in the world say that to the media? Because he is and always has been a jackass and this is just another example of him throwing a little tantrum against A&M for jilting him back in the day. Pure and simple. As people get older their true self becomes more and more apparent and they are less able to hide their motives or trick anyone. Stallings was terrible to the players and a loser on the field until, after a sojourn in the NFL - during which time he matured and learned how to coach - he went to Alabama, where he cheated his way to a natty (he got them busted with lack of institutional control). frick Gene Stallings. I am no friend of Sumlin's, but Sumlin is not intentionally trying to damage A&M as of this time. Stallings has for years, while simultaneously putting on the 'good ol Ag' song and dance routine. Snake. in. the. grass.

Summary of Stalling's Butthurt and The Origins of His Recent Media Sniping:

1. Getting fired by A&M in the '70s
2. His grandson not getting perfunctory lip-serivce from A&M despite having no intention of ever going anywhere but Clemson
3. Kids these days and their darn 'rap' music, why can't they have flat-top haircuts and listen to Gene Autry? Oh, and almost die when I nearly run them to death in practice, which I do to them because that's what The Bear did to me! Did I ever tell you about that time that Bear Bryant...
