On a somewhat-related note, someone needs to add a page for Baylor's "Tarpy" and link to it on their football wikipedia page.

Season after season, Floyd Casey was half empty, but Tarpy was always there. Tarpy was the most loyal Baylor fan there was, but a couple of years of success, and they decide to sell his tickets to someone else for the OU game just because they will pay more money than Tarpy?!? What a sorry way to treat your most recognizable fan!

see the guy in the yellow shirt? I sat right there for a bunch of RGIII games while working up there. I liked Tarpy he never got angry or indignant when I openly booed and laughed at Baylol and their empty high school stadium

How long was the tarp in place? Only time I've been to Baylor was in '97 to watch a horrible Miami team beat them, and I sat in cheap end zone seats. Pretty sure it was under the scoreboard.

Wikipedia says that Tarpy started going to games in 2004. My only visit to Floyd Casey was in 1991, and it was packed (with Aggies).

Well, its not much but I filled out the empty and/or incorrect box scores for the '94 season. LINK

The logic board to my old computer that I had been building pages committed murder suicide on the hard drive nuking everything I had done so it was only now that I could bring myself to start back up.

Anyway, I'll be slowly getting back into fiddling around with these pages once I find my other old media guides.

Yeah I've wondered about that as well. I went in '77 (UH screwed up scheduling so '75 and '76 were both at Kyle) and the place was packed or nearly so. Granted, mostly by Aggies.

I really do think that significant part of Baylor being so pissed at us leaving (aside from fearing the collapse of the Big12) was that A&M fans often went en masse to Waco and packed their house. 7 of the top 10 attendances at Floyd Casey were A&M games. That's a bunch of lost revenue that the average game against a TCU or WVU is not going to make up for.

my dad hated A&M growing up there for the sole reason that when school was in session there wasn't a single woman to be found for miles

Your dad, as always, was correct.

In '75-'79 there were women, but for some unexplained reason they thought Corps guys with our outstanding haircuts were uncouth. Or something. This is no lie: Walked to CE classes with 2 other CTs for all 4 years and we had a game. In turn, say "Howdy" to an approaching female. If she acknowledged the guy in any way, including "Eat shite" or "You suck" or "Leave me the hell alone", you got 5 points. If she completely ignored him it was a wash - 0 points. If she crossed the street in an obvious attempt at avoiding all contact, -1 point. All 3 of us scored negative points for our first 3 years. And then we put on the boots and started racking up huge positive scores. We lost interest in the game quickly. That game formed my opinion of females for decades to come!
