Dirk Nowitski > Rockets > Spurs > Washington Generals > a team of disabled 5 year olds > the rest of the Mavs.

Without Dirk, the Mavs would be the worst team in the NBA.

Thought this thread was a fun read looking back.

Also I am pretty proud of my expectations/prediction of what Knight would do. Passing is near spot on, but I underestimated his rushing and didn't put rushing TDs, but I would not have guessed over 1 a game.

My expectation
quote:

248 YARDS
19-32
2-3 TDs
0-1 INTs
8 RUSHES
40 YARDS

Actual
233.5 YARDS
18-33.7
1.625 TDs
0.75 INTs
10.375 RUSHES
66.125 YARDS

I honestly had no idea the type of runner Knight could be. It's a pretty damning indictment of the OU offensive staff from when he was there that they rarely utilized him that way

This is his best year running the ball, but he did have 450 rushing yds as a freshman, including 2 100 yd games.

I don't remember them running read option nearly as much as we do with him, and a lot more of those yards coming from scrambles. Maybe he improved at it here once he got on campus

Yeah I don't think Stoops has ever been big on the zone read play
