Did the Petrino hire renew your interest in the football program?

That is, if you had become demoralized and openly wished to burn the whole program down and start anew like I did (and do).

I've gotta say, I have a certain intrigue at how next season will play out. I'd call it renewed interest but not that of my normal rabid devotion. More like a seeing a train careening towards a vehicle stalled on the tracks.

No but will revisit stance and give initial impressions of the offense after our game at Miami on Sept 9.

As always I want to be wrong about Jimbo and would love nothing more than to be a fool to doubt him.

yup! It’ll either be lightning in a bottle type success or a complete meltdown that sinks the program for the next decade. I don’t think there is a in between

I think there is always the opportunity for mediocrity unfortunately

I want to see New Mexico easily defeated by at least 21 points. And I want to see a score in the 40s at least. I'll be interested and optimistic after that.

No, more so the opposite, but all the Arkansas fans and a few smart talking heads commentary help me keep an open mind. I’m at the point where I need to see it before I believe it.

Didnt move the needle a ton for me. I am glad it looks like Jimbo will be giving up the play calling reins to someone else, but still dissapointed it took a disasterous season to get him to change his ways. Watching programs like Tennessee and TCU with new coaches have immediate success compared to ours leaves me doubting Jimbo's ability to win us a championship.

I agree that I think this Petrino hire is either a homerun or a strikeout, theres no in between.

I'm more optimistic about next year. I am in wait and see mode about a lot of things about the program right now. But even if the defense stays the same if the offense gets into the 30s avg pts per game, we will have a great year.

If for whatever reason this hire does not work out over the next couple of years, I think we are looking for a whole new coaching staff.

I think for the first time in forever, we may actually see an offense that ruthlessly hangs 60 or 70 points on someone when they get the opportunity, I’m looking forward to that

Not remotely. I'm in wait and see mode with any decision that Fisher makes these days. His last few "hires" have been simply terrible. I'm not dead panning the move, but we will see ...

Doesn't move the needle for me either. We will see a regression toward the mean next season and people say it was a great hire.

This is the crowd I’m in Sarge. I think Petrino has some old scores to settle in the SEC.

Petrino strikes me as the type of person that holds a grudge… and in this case, I like that… a lot!!!

I wouldn’t be surprised to see some video game type scores.

Yes, absolutely. I think most aren't giving him enough credit. Think he's a great OC and we have a handful of offensive explosions next year.

I'm still interested, but Petrino has nothing to do with it. We had a O-Line decimated by injuries last year, lost Ainias early, and had to endure most of the season with the pick machine, King. The LSU game is what really proved to me that we could be competitive. With a healthy O-Line, Smith, Stewart, and Moose catching, Daniels, Moss, and Owens running, and Weigman at QB, I think our offense could be really good next year. The only concerns I have are LB and DB. The D-Line could be the best in the country by 2024, if not this year.

Not with DJ Durkin running three down linemen. DJ Durkin is wasting away so much talent at D-line.

No.

(Cause I never lost interest.)

Seriously, I think the disaster that was last season is causing virtually everyone to see the shape of the A&M program improperly. It's still ultra talented, still good enough to beat anyone, and still got a LOT of VERY young studs experience last year. We lost almost exclusively very close games with a revolving door offense that was at times absolutely inept. Get the offense fixed, and there is no ceiling.
