The entire Caribbean had Sargassum issues last year. From Tobago, Greater Antilles, and yes Cancun - the currents brought it in. In 2014 we were slammed with it in Texas.

The other place the OP should look at is Robert's Grove in Placencia, Belize. They have private islands and a resort in the town of Placencia. I've never been there but heard good things.
