Texas recruits were not good last year. Chavis had Tyrel Dodson as his #1 target and Mike Divinity (LSU) as his #2 at linebacker. Ed Oliver (UH) was A&M's top target along with TD Moton (TDB) at defensive tackle. A&M prioritized Brandon Jackson (Sips) and Mark Jackson (OU), but they both wanted to start immediately.

A&M whiffed last year, but it wasn't with the kids from TX. It was with the LA kids that they wanted that ended up at LSU (Divinity, Lewis, and Greedy Williams), McTelvin Agim (Arky), and the CA kids who chose USC (Oluwole Betiku and Jack Jones).

6 4/5-star TX DL had A&M offers and went elsewhere

3 4/5-star TX LB had A&M offers and went elsewhere

7 4/5-star TX DB had A&M offers and went elsewhere

A&M signed 1,0,2 respectively from those same groups. Not sure how you can argue a) the TX recruits weren't good or b) A&M didn't want them.

There is absolutely no helping you.

BTW our "Reachy" recruits. There is a whole thread on the other site. Quartney Davis, Charles Oliver, and Kellen Diesch were all "Reachy" last year.

Mannie Netherly, Rashaud Paul, and Devin Morris are not rated-3* prospects before A&M got them to commit. Netherly and Paul are now ESPN 300 prospects. Devin Morris just received offers from FSU and LSU.

Help with what? You said TX recruits last year "weren't good" and we "didn't miss" on them.

I just stated facts that there were a bunch of highly rated TX guys, we offered pretty much all of them and landed very few.

Good. I think with a quality staff, we should expect to see stuff like this.

Overall, I think the more proven path to success is landing the blue chip recruits; but in the mean time, with the mess we've put ourselves in, it's on the staff to find the these semi-under the radar guys. Looks like they're doing a good job so far.

We have to find a way to wash the stink of Allen and Murray's transfers away from the program before we can move forward.

Easy way: bagmen start making it rain

Hard way: beat UCLA, Auburn and Arkansas to start the season 4-0

Arkansas radio is saying that Texas A&M commerce has pulled out of the satellite camp with Arkansas at Jerry's world. ACU has stepped in, but they're saying that Arkansas has pulled out.

This is not true First 26 of the 52 composite 4/5 stars were defensive players. A&M targeted DTS: Ross Blacklock, and Ed Oliver. They slow played Chris Daniels and circled back to him late in the cycle and whiffed on all 3.

A&M targeted DE Mark Jackson and whiffed on him. They slowplayed DE Isiah Chambers but in hindsight should've taken.

A&M targeted LB Sewo Olonilua and Jeffrey McCulluch- they missed on both.

A&M targed DBs Brandon Jones and Eric Cuffee- another 2 misses.

Texas was much deeper defensively in 2016 but the staff couldn't close.

McCullough, Blacklock, and Cuffee were not a priority targets. A&M slow played them as they looked at others.

Sewo was a running/ H-back target. Stoops convinced Mark Jackson that he was to small for the SEC and would have more opportunity to start at OU at a hybrid LB/DE position.

AM was recruiting Sewo at LB, he was an ATH that ultimately decided to be a RB for TCU. But make no mistake, he was a top target of the staff at LB. And, the staff did not slow play McCulluch, Blacklock or Cuffee- that is revisionist history. Cuffee was a silent commit for the Ags since the fall. Blacklock was their top DT target and staff thought he was in the bag until he made a surprise commitment to TCU. Chavis also stayed hard on McCulluch until they ultimately struck out.

It really cannot be argued that A&M did not whiff in the 2016 class.

You are just wrong. They were only looking to take 2 linebackers. There was no reason to recruit McCulluogh or Sewo at the position. Dodson was committed early and Divinity, an early enrollee, had decommitted from LSU.

The coaches didn't even make time to visit Divinity when he visited A&M in the fall. And Divinity didnt' decommit from LSU until December!
