At least he volunteers decent info. And It's an opinion just like every other poster on this board.

Amen, that was a rare moment until Malik screwed it all up. The climax of this forum's life for sure.

I remember it was flying up to kylers annoucement. Then it slowed down up until kirks annoucement. Then it got crazy after malik and then it was like a can of gas had been dumped on the fire when the kyler and Texas thing happened culminating to a really fun final two or three days leading up to signing day

Some Juco DEs visiting this weekend
quote:
Per sources, Texas A&M will host Copiah-Lincoln C.C. defenders Joe Anderson, Tyree Owens and Montez Sweat this weekend for the Aggies' recruiting BBQ. This was something GigEm247 first mentioned as a possibility this morning in our recruiting chat. Anderson, an Ole Miss signee out of high school, is ranked as the No. 1 strong-side defensive end and the No. 32 overall prospect in the junior college ranks, per the 247Composite rankings. Owens, the No. 4 ranked strong-side defensive end and No. 55 overall prospect in the junior college ranks, per the 247Composite rankings, will be riding with Anderson. Sweat, who was suspended from Michigan State last September and then left school this spring, is listed as a 6-6, 230-pound tight end but the Aggies like him at defensive end.

Hamm on this weekend
quote:
- Texas A&M's first recruiting BBQ was a huge success in June as it produced 10 commitments from prospects that attended the event. As it was explained to me by a close source, "This BBQ is set up to hit on all the finer points of everything outside of football and then plan to get to the NFL," which, in my opinion, is the perfect approach.
- Before I get going on more insider notes, our surprise visitor that I first reported on can now be revealed. Stellar Prep (CA) DE Addison Gumbs will be in College Station this weekend. He didn't want the news out early because there are some big named programs on him hard to make a visit this weekend and didn't want a distraction. However, he chose to make the long trek to Aggieland this weekend instead over the likes of UCLA or Washington. He's scheduled to be in College Station tomorrow night.
- There are quite a few prospects that have "been invited" but not necessarily confirmed just yet that have been posted on other outlets. 2018 Lovejoy LB Bumper Pool will be making the trip early in the morning to Aggieland and then later that day he will head up to Austin for "Under The Lights." Houston Bellaire DT Jayden Peevy was on the list for this weekend but his grandmother passed away so he won't be in town. However, per his mother, they love Texas A&M. 2018 Cypress-Ranch OL Colton Blanton will be in town but Spring Westfield DT Keondre Coburn can't make it due to family transportation issues.
- A big "maybe" is Ole Miss linebacker commit Josh Clarke. He's yet to confirm those plans with the staff but it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he made it to College Station.
- Finally, I've switched my CB pick on CeeDee Lamb as I've been told by multiple sources that he plans to recommit to Oklahoma on Monday.

I know it's way too early to gloat, but this is funny as hell to me after the "death knell" talk. 247sports '17 rankings as of today:
8. Texas A&M
25. Houston
32. Texas Tech
42. TCU
57. Texas
58. Vanderbilt
Oh my. Go 'Dores!

We have several athletes in recent classes that could play on offense or defense. Coaches have been "hedging" over the last couple of years as the depth chart has started to finally fill up.

I don't think the 2 are related. I think Lamb just really likes OU.

It is. Although we are currently sitting at 8th in the rankings, with the guys we are targeting to fill the 9 spots left I find it hard to imagine that we will finish with a top 10 class. According to the 247 finishes over the past few years a team typically needs 270+ points to be a top 10 class. With no decommits and player rankings not fluctuating, reaching that 270 mark this year seems unlikely even if we were to land Hines and Hezekiah

Sips had to "over recruit" the last couple of years to change perception of the program.
They are tight on numbers and can only take around 11-15 with normal attrition. They will have to chase off a couple of kids to add more.

Yeah but now w/ the Lamb news im not sure a reasonable person can be optimistic on any WRs recruitment at the moment no matter what is being reported on our side. We were told that Mannie and Ausbon were locks for us if we got Mond. After we got Mond we lost both to LSU. I'm not "overreacting" but I don't think moorehead is a guy we should keep on staff after this year. WRs showed no improvement in beating man press last year (desperately need that to change this year) and his recruiting may be worst on staff. Also, I don't think anyone is choosing our school to play for him. If recruits start saying otherwise I may back track but until then...

Very understandable to be skeptical of Moorehead.
I think he'll benefit from the "rising tide lifts all boats" effect if Mazzone, Turner and Knight can get the offense turned around.
