Just finished watching the game:

1) Robert Williams is gone after this year. I thought it was a question before this game, not anymore. Wow what a game for him. Not just the sick dunks and blocks, but he had some great passes in there too.
2) We're competiting remarkably well given our situation. We were ice cold from 3 (mostly not bad looks) and would have won with one of those going in.
3) Screw that court.

Agreed. Amazing we're over 0.500 with a Stansbury-less Kennedy pacing the sideline.

Here's a legitimate question:

Were the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 Aggies more or less talented than the 2016-2017 Aggies AND did they have easier or harder schedules?

If the answer is less talented and with harder schedules how then did they manage to make the NCAA Tournament both seasons...

1.
Dash Harris = JC Hampton
Neither were very good. Harris probably ran a better offense and played better D, but Hampton is a better scoring and shooter

2.
Sloan > Gilder
I could see Gilder passing up Sloan by the end of his career, but at this point, Donald was a senior.

3.
D-Ro (injury) / Walkup < Hogg
I know DJ has struggled and is now out, but he's better than D-RO.

4.
Loubeau < Williams
No contest here. David was a serviceable big, but Williams is a nother level.

5. B Davis < T Davis
Tyler wins this one hands down. Both were below the rim types that were/are crafty, but Tyler is more sound and skilled.

Bench
Middleton, Holmes, Walkup (a lot of the season), Turner, Hibbert > Miller, Vila, Trocha
Would take the depth on the 10 team easily. That team had depth. Nate and BJ were solid starters the next year and Middleton when on to have a great Aggie and NBA career.

Overall I say they are fairly close. The 2010 team played better as a team. It was built better and better coached. Its strength was guard and SF play over the reliance on bigs like the current team is. But there are more than one way to skin a cat.

The reason we have struggled so much this year is because we have no guard play outside of Gilder so we can't stretch the floor for Williams and Davis or adequately defend the perimeter, we were playing Hogg out of position (he's a stretch 4 not a 3) and we have no outside shot.

We have a lottery pick and a First Team All Sec player in our front court. They should be scoring 40-50 combined points every game, and if they're feeling it, like they were last night, even more. Instead, our offense has Trocha, a 24% 3 point shooter, jacking up 5-6 3s per game. Seriously, go look. We lost to Vanderbilt by 5 and Trocha took SIX 3 pointers and missed all of them.

What is Kennedy thinking? "Well he's sort of open and tall enough to shoot over the defender anyway, so looks like a good shot to me!" Has he never heard of data analytics? And these aren't exactly complex analytics, either. 24% 3 point shooter = .72 expected points/possession = record-setting-horrible offensive efficiency (I'm ignoring offensive boards, but you get the idea).

You have a nasty nasty front court. Ride it to victories!!

You can't ride a nasty front court when they're getting double teamed because the defense has no respect for our perimeter offense. In today's college game, you must have three quality perimeter guys who can shoot and penetrate to the basket, we have one.

Gilder is a good outside shooter. Hampton is a good outside shooter. Hogg was a serviceable outside shooter.

I don't think our offense is generating a lot of clean looks. There's a nice thread on this subject over at Texags.

I sure hope so. If we lose Williams and Trocha, it's going to be tough.

Side note, the announcers have mentioned it the last two games but I don't think it's been discussed here, Gilder has played every single minute of the last 8 games

Kennedy never thinks, he's an idiot. Who are we looking to hire once we fire him in 2 months?

I did my part as I took my kid to her first game and she had a blast. She kept calling the dance team cheerleaders which I found to be hilarious.

It was nice to see Eubanks and Vila playing and contributing. I hope Kennedy keeps running them out there. Maybe, just maybe we can work our way into a NIT bid. I'm not confident in even that, but I think it would be good thing for the team.
