I'm already liking this guy. He's off to a strong start.

I'd get a 6 month lease to start out that way if you meet people and you want to room together you aren't locked in for a year. This is just my opinion but a good spot to look is the 1BR condos off of Lyons View called Westcliffe condos or Westcliffe at Cherokee. A 1 br should go for 600-700 a month. There are also some one bedrooms in Sequoyah Hills called Sequoyah Sqaure or Taliwani that should be in your price range and still close to campus.
Whatever you do get a minor in business that way if you want to go back and get your MBA, you won't have to take any pre reqs. With your military background, have you considered looking into the logistics program, at UT?

Will defiantly do some research on some of those places, thank you!
I was a grunt for all five years so nothing that really translates to the civilian world. I have not looked at the logistics program yet, might be worth looking at though

Hows the Henley apartment complexes?
Posted on 2/28/18 at 7:59 am to FiddleHead
I'm not familiar with them specifically but I've had friends live in apartments around that area and they've all enjoyed them. Thye all seem pretty nice for the most part. There's not a ton of stuff in that area but its a quick bike/drive to campus/downtown. And uber is pretty cheap ($5-6 per trip).

All the apartments right on campus are super expensive
303 flats called me today it’d be 1000$ a month for a 1bed 1bath with parking included. I’ll get 1235 a month for housing from the government so that’s at the very top of the price range. They look like beautiful apartments though
Also how’s the gym in the rec center for students?
I couldn’t find a ton of info on it, will I have to join an off campus gym pretty much?

Welcome bro. You picked a good time to come to the city. Downtown is really starting to take off and do it's own thing. Enjoy school and let us know if you need any tips on where to go or what to do in the area. There's plenty of Breweries, bars, restaurants, outdoor activities, etc all around. Ball out

The TREC is fricking awesome. Use it, and save the money. It's larger than any gym in the area and nicer.

This area of town has a lot going on and these apartments are pretty solid if you're not gonna be in the fort/on campus.

If you're looking across the river, might as well check downtown as well. Sterchi is pretty nice, but I'm not sure on pricing. Being downtown would be pretty awesome.
Sterchi Lofts
This one is also downtown and in a newly renovated building.

Awesome exactly what I was looking for. Will most definitely be using that

I’m guessing downtown is the place to be? How far is that from the main campus on heavy traffic days?
Posted on 3/1/18 at 1:51 pm to FiddleHead
Like 5 minutes? Less than a mile.
Posted on 3/1/18 at 1:51 pm to FiddleHead
You could ride a bike from downtown and be on campus in 10 minutes. It's literally beside it, and very convenient.

Ill have to find one that isn’t as pricey or possibly a roommate somehow

It can be done, I would think. Tons of people looking to be downtown. Really just depends on what you can afford, but I wouldn't go into the Fort if you can avoid it. Lots of new and nice apartments going in all around Knox.

May be a stupid question but what’s considered the fort?
Posted on 3/1/18 at 2:17 pm to FiddleHead
Essentially anything to the North of Cumberland Avenue until you hit the interstate. It's where most of the "armed robbery" emails come from that you'll get periodically
Fort Sanders

Bad area, lots of traffic, or just stupid expensive?
Posted on 3/1/18 at 3:11 pm to FiddleHead
The Fort? Depends on where, but some areas are pretty rough. Like I said, more than likely the emails you get about armed robberies will be from the fort. I'd just be sure to scout anywhere you like in there before committing to anything. Some parts are nice though, just do your research.
