That's the best part of recruiting with Jones, hardly any negative recruiting news.

And if there is something negative, you better believe the guy has a plan in place to fix it. The best example was Allen holding off his announcement at the Semper fi game. Everyone freaked because LT was the biggest need, then Butch goes and nabs Richmond.

Any word on what happened? Seems like it came out of left field

No idea but I'm not really concerned. With limited numbers, he seemed like a bit of a stretch to me.

He had some cryptic tweets a few weeks ago. Either way I'm not fretting about this one.

Austin Kendall interview with VQ

On Bajakian

quote:

"Obviously, it's a business and going from the college to the NFL is just part of it and you can't be mad at him because it's a better situation for him and his family," Kendall explained. "But, I did know him since my freshman year so it kind of hurt but I really established a good relationship with him and the whole staff and since I had the relationship with the staff it's been alright."

On 2015 QBs coming in

quote:

"I've done my research and a guy might transfer out or one might play another position, you never know," Kendall said. "And, it's just the business side of it. My family and my coach, we all sat down and did our research about it and I'm feeling alright now."
"You've definitely got to be confident. You can't go somewhere thinking, 'Oh, I'm not going to play.' You've got to go in there wanting to be the guy," Kendall said.

On Debord hiring

quote:

"He's a well-spoken guy and he has a huge background because he's coached so many big-time players," Kendall said. "He actually coach, coached Sheridan which is kind of funny. But, that's exciting to know that he's a guy that can fix things."
He was just saying how his career was. I know he hasn't coached quarterbacks for 30 years but I did my research on him," Kendall said. "I'm looking forward to meeting him. I'm going to get to a spring practice or the spring game to see how he caches and everything and I'm looking forward to seeing him."

In response to the Bridges decommitment, I think we replace him with this guy pretty soon.

Daniel Bituli

From an interview with 247 on Jan. 25:

quote:

"UT and Ole Miss are still on top right now. After this visit, UT is on top now,” said Bituli, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 116 overall prospect and No. 8 outside linebacker in the 247Sports Composite for the 2016 class.

“Just everything UT has to offer is amazing. The coaches, I see that they talk to each other like they’ve known each other their whole lives, and I respect all the coaches. I was able to talk to some of the players at UT, and they’re super cool. And I absolutely love the fans at UT. I love the fans.”

The 6-foot-3, 227-pound Bituli attended two of Tennessee’s home games last season, most recently returning for the Vols’ home finale Nov. 22 against Missouri.

But he said his latest trip to Tennessee allowed him to spend more time with coach Butch Jones’ staff, take a closer look at some of the Vols’ facilities and attend their men’s basketball game Saturday afternoon against Texas A&M.

“I wanted to be able to talk to all the coaches and get to know them as people. It was fun,” said Bituli, who has added scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Auburn, South Carolina and Ohio State within the past 10 days. “I checked out the football facilities. We basically went to the stadium and took some pictures and ate.

“I pretty much got to see the whole football facility. I got to see the training center, the workout room, the indoor football field, the outdoor football field, the Peyton Manning Room — just everything in that area.

“I was able to talk to coaches I haven’t met yet and sit down and talk to other coaches more than I did before.”

He said he “was able to talk to every single coach” on Tennessee’s staff.

“(Jones was) talking about the building process at Tennessee and where they would see me at if I did go to UT — just stuff in general like that — and, if I was to go there, what my schedule would be and stuff like that. It was good to know,” Bituli said. “I’d of course play linebacker (at Tennessee), but we’re still discussing on whether I’d play inside or outside.”

Bituli said linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen, who’s serving as his primary recruiter for the Vols, already has developed a “really good” relationship with him.

“That’s my boy,” Bituli said. “We just talk about everything. He’s my favorite coach by far.”

Bituli said he’s hoping “to head back to Ole Miss” in the near future, “and I want to go to LSU” after getting an offer from the Tigers almost six months ago. He said he’s also likely to return to Tennessee sometime “soon.”

While he’s not ruling out the possibility that he could decide on a college within the next few months, he said he’s not rushing to end his recruitment.

“I want to visit a couple more schools, and then I’ll be making my decision,” Bituli said. “I think I will be deciding sometime during football season, but anything can happen before or after.”

On Bridges

quote:

The decommitment of Emanuel Bridges on Thursday was just as random as his commitment was in November. Bridges has been wanting to take some more visits and didn't feel like it was fair to Tennessee to look at others while committed. LSU is expected to receive his next visit. He still says the Vols are in play.

On Kendall
quote:

After talking with Kendall earlier this week the Vols seem to be fine there as he and his family were certainly interested in talking to DeBord and hoping to look more into the quarterback situation at Tennessee with three quarterbacks signing in the class of 2015.

Kendall said he plans on being on campus the weekend of Feb. 28 to begin to get to know DeBord more and he hopes to return for a spring practice to see how he coaches.

While Kendall and his family have had their questions answered by Tennessee up to this point, it's fair to say that Kendall is still in the early stages of getting to know DeBord and you should expect other teams to go away any time soon.

Elijah Stove

quote:

Stove doesn't participate in many offseason events, so it was nice seeing him showcase his skill set on Saturday. And showcase it, he did. Stove caught a handful of touchdowns in his team's first two games and did so on long routes that saw him lean on his speed. Stove was dangerous on fade routes but also showed off a sudden change of direction that made him nearly impossible to cover. Stove dropped a pass or two on Saturday, but the good was miles more noticeable than the bad. Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn and LSU are the schools that are currently standing out to Stove, a four-star prospect.

Rivals

Was here for Bama game last season

I personally don't buy his top group without a Fla school but I guess ya never know.

Update on Joejuan Williams, Mecole Hardman and Elijah Holyfield

quote:

Rivals100 defensive back JoeJuan Williams said two schools are pushing to the front for his services, Tennessee and Ohio State. The Nashville native said the Vols have made him a priority and are working hard to make sure he stays in state. Williams is planning a visit to campus in Knoxville next weekend and said plenty of his friends from the Class of 2015 are already working to get him on to join them on Rocky Top down the road.

Meanwhile, Williams said the reigning national champs are also showing him plenty of love and are also pitching the opportunity to come in and play early in his career. Williams said he's not planning a decision anytime soon and is also planning plenty of visits in the coming months.

Tennessee continues to hold the lead position for Rivals250 athlete Mecole Hardman, with Georgia and Clemson also working to close the gap on the Vols. Like Williams, Hardman said he will likely be on campus for the school's junior day this weekend and he said he's looking forward to spending time with some of Class of 2015 Vols early enrollees. Tennessee is recruiting Hardman to play offense, while Georgia continues to sell Hardman on the possibility of playing defense. He said he's deciding on which side of the ball he would prefer to play, but wouldn't rule out a school based solely on which position it projects him to in college.

Rivals250 running back Elijah Holyfield said four schools -- Tennessee, Florida, Auburn and Michigan -- are standing out above all others at this point in his recruitment. The Vols, behind a big effort from running backs coach Robert Gillespie, are making a hard charge to land Holyfield. He's expected to visit the Vols next weekend and said he's looking forward to getting a closer look at the Knoxville campus. Auburn has also made Holyfield a priority and Holyfield said he's in touch with someone from the Tigers staff on an almost daily basis. Heading into the spring Holyfield said he still plans to take several visits before narrowing his list for good, but did say his four favorites have a leg up on the competition for now.

Trayvon Mullen

quote:

"It's Miami, Alabama and Tennessee," Mullen said on Saturday. "There's more, but those are the three right now that re really standing out. There's more, though."

As for what sets the trip of apart from the barrel of other offers upon which Mullen sits, he says that's simple. His early list of favorites isn't about facilitates or training tables. It's not about depth charts, either. Instead, his opinions are based on relationships.

"I like how all three of them communicate with me," Mullen said. "They communicate with me every day. I like that. I've really gotten to know the schools, you know?

Obviously, Mullen's list of standouts is subject to change moving forward. It's why the four-star prospect intends to hit the road in the near future. He'll take some visits in the state and outside of it. Some schools he intends to see are included on his list of standouts. At least one isn't, though.

The first three official visit stops on his mind? Florida State, Tennessee and Alabama. "I just want to see what the vibe is at those schools," Mullen said. "I want to see the players and how they treat each other. I just want to see the whole atmosphere."
