From a poster on VQ

- Offensive line as of right now will be
LT Kerbyson
LG Robertson
C Thomas
RG Jones
RT Kendrick

- Said Crowder is still battling Thomas for C. If Crowder regains his position, Thomas will move to RT and Kendrick goes to the bench

- Jumper likely to start first few weeks at MLB with Kirkland Jr taking over later.

- Said Stripling absolutely loves the talent and depth he has across the defensive line.

- Cory Vereen has had a very strong camp. 5 man rotation at DE will be Barnett, Maggitt, Phillips, Vereen and Mixon.

- 5 man rotation at DT will be O'Brien, O.Williams, McKenzie, Tuttle and Vickers.

- Said the top 5 at CB/Nickel will be Sutton, Moseley, Martin, Foreman and Micah Abernathy.

- Said that Jancek has a special blitz package hes saving for Oklahoma with only 3 DL and Weatherd standing up, moving all over the place and pressure could come from anywhere with defensive backs All over the field.

- Jauan Jennings is looking like a big time WR and will be ready to go immediately.

- Zach Azzanni told him that Preston Williams WILL PLAY against Bowling Green

6 more days, fellas! GBFO!

Wish Jancek had kept it under wraps until we played them... Now they know we have it

All that sounds good. I am pumped to be in Nashville next weekend, drunk and rowdy.

I really think we will see a difference with the LBs this year with the DL requiring so much attention, which I don't even remember the last time when that was the case. The LBs should be able to disrupt and get in the backfield more.

Didn't OU just switch to a air raid type offense or some shite? I hope we are aggressive against that...I hate watching teams sitting back and getting dinked to death. But again, if the D line can get pressure with 3 and drop 1 and throw some exotic blitzes in there, I think we will be alright.

That's is the OL I want to see. Great news all around. So fricking deep along the DL.

Off to Nashville on Saturday!

The starting 5 on the OL looks surprisingly decent. I like Coleman at C personally. Mack plays his dick off and does a good job making the right calls/adjustments, but he's undersized and he got abused quite a bit last year by the upper echelon teams. He was OK when getting help with double teams, but he got blown off the ball way to often. I'm really hoping Thomas can step in and lock down the C spot.

Crazy to see how much hype Jennings is getting at wide out. Him and PW are going to be nasty as TF.

Sounds like Crowder isn't taking it easy that Thomas beat him out for starting C.

quote:

Crowder was back on the practice field Tuesday after reportedly missing Monday’s practice after being upset that he’d lost his starting position heading into the season. Tennessee’s first-team offensive line hadn't changed from the past few practices, though. Senior Kyler Kerbyson was at left tackle, sophomore Jashon Robertson was at left guard, sophomore Coleman Thomas was at center, junior Dylan Wiesman was at right guard and sophomore Brett Kendrick was at right tackle, at least during the periods that were open for reporters to watch.

Is Jones really strong enough at this point to start at G? To me he looked like he needed a year of S&C in the spring game.

...but what the hell do I know

As much as I hope I'm wrong, I think the OL struggles again. Hopefully Dobbs and the rest of the offensive talent can overcome that.

Crowder can get over it. He's always seemed soft to me

I'm with you. I really like sliding Thomas in at C as long as he can make the right calls/adjustments. Crowder gave it everything he had but he got blown off the ball and caused the pocket to collapse to many times last year. Seems like a great guy, but not consistently athletic or strong enough to hang with the upper echelon DL's unless he was getting help with a double team. I do think he makes a decent #2 though.

RB coach Gillespie on the improvement from the OL

quote:

Going into the season I feel better about our depth, but obviously I don't have many guys that are battle tested, who I've seen play the game. When the lights come on it's a totally different. Jalen's the only guy that I've been able to go to battle with. Right now I feel comfortable with those guys, that they at least know what to do," Gillespie offered.

Interestingly, he had equally high praise for the Vols' offensive front. According to Gillespie, the improvement he's seen in the 'big uglies' has him as excited as anything he's seen his own unit do in fall camp.

"I don't think it's about our guys, I think it starts up front. Those guys are a year better. Those guys have played together. We've got guys who can play multiple positions; center, guard, tackle," Gillespie said.

"Our offensive line has probably shown the most chemistry and take the biggest step of anyone on our offense. That makes it easier for Jalen and Alvin and John and Ralph. Those guys are going to make the biggest difference in our offense."

I'll take that all day. That's a 180 from what we were hearing out of last year's fall camp.
