Is it just me or does Rick Barnes seem to

Not give a frick?

We are so far behind in recruiting it's ridiculous. We're picked to finish 13th in the SEC, and it feels like we're going to be a bottom feeder for the next few years.

He doesn't have a lot of fricks left to give. Dude is old as balls

He is doing nothing but collecting a nice little pre-retirement check imo

And Dave Hart also gives exactly zero fricks about basketball.

Mans just another Dooley, very disappointed with how this hire has turned out.

I actually think Barnes is a good coach in the way of X&Os. The team last year was really bad but they looked more fundamentally sound than Cuonzo's teams. Punter's improvement is owed to the staff as well.

What is obvious is that Rick just can't be bothered with recruiting which is why he will not be successful. It is a shame too because there is no valid excuse for Tennessee not to always be in the top half of the league.

13th Sounds about right.

Barnes doesn't recruit anymore, I guess.

Last year, UT finished the season 15-19 (6-12). Before they lost Punter, UT was 12-14 (5-8). Without losing Punter, UT had a very good shot at finishing 500 both overall and in conference. Every team has injuries, but not every team loses 22 points and 1.4 steals per game. Had UT finished at 500, they would have been 8th in conference, instead of 12th.

I agree that I'm not impressed with recruiting so far...but I like Barns' character, and how he develops players. Hopefully this year will be tolerable and recruiting will improve rolling into next season.

Looking at 24/7, our '16 class finished 7th in the conference (mostly because we took 6 players), but still...it is recoverable.

I'm worried this season could be very bad.

Am I delusional or should Tennessee recruiting be well within the top half of the SEC? I feel like it shouldn't be that hard to pull better quality players here.

This is going to sound homerish, but yes, we absolutely should be recruiting better. The problem is, we haven't been as willing to blatantly cheat as other schools. Cheating is out much more out of control in CBB than it is in football.

I do too, but we should be making better hires that Martin, Tyndall, and a burned out Barnes. I'm glad a new AD is coming in.

I did not expect Barnes to replicate the success he had at Texas here but I am shocked at how bad he has recruited thus far. This is the same guy that was able to beat out bluebloods for elite HS talent like Kevin Durant, Lamarcus Aldridge, Boobie Gibson etc
