I hope you attached a proper 2 point conversion chart bc apparently the one Butch has was written by a Down syndrome child while on Cocaine

Here's the deal with Butch...he truly is a great recruiter. That's undeniable. But he simply isn't a great coach.
Unfortunately, at this point in his career, he probably won't get better.
Just like Pinkel will never win a conference championship game. He'll continue to pull out 10, 11, or 12 win seasons and Mizzou fans will be okay with that all while knowing that he won't win the big game that counts.
It sucks. You have to ask yourself: If you fired Butch today, who would you hire that is better?

I'm really not sold on Gruden from an x's and o's perspective. I'm sure he'd bring in recruits, but he's all flash.

I don't think he should be fired yet, although I've pretty much lost confidence in him. My #1 target today would be Whittingham. Id make a run at Patterson but if he hasn't left Fort Worth yet I don't know if he ever will. He and Briles have it made down there.
I think Jones gets another year, at that point Chad Morris and Tom Herman would be on the list. Fuente in Memphis would be on there. My delusional pick would obviously be Chip Kelly. Bill O'Brian would be a great choice if he tanks in Houston, but he probably stays in the NFL. Petrino would be near the bottom. I like Todd Graham too.
Problem with all the above is you gotta show em the cash... Our AD likes to shop for coaches in the bargain bin. Hopefully the roster will still be more appealing at that point.

It's obviously unrealistic, and I agree with you... but the appeal lies with the staff he could assemble. One of the biggest problems with Jones imo is his staff is mostly rejects from other programs.

Would love to get Fuentes, unfortunately he will probably get hired away from Memphis after this year.
And I agree with the Doc above, I think Jones's staff is a HUGE problem. The best coach in the world can't make it without a good staff and Butch's staff doesn't have a great track record for the most part

I like Todd Graham too.

I'm also not on the Gruden train. I don't think it's a realistic option, plus I'm not sold on him being a good coach and he hasn't done it in quite some time.

We don't know because coaching market sucks. We'd have to gamble on an up and coming coach from smaller schools.
Even programs like Texas, Florida, USC had to settle for mediocre ones. Coaches like Harbaugh and Saban are extremely hard to come by.

Tbh i don't know much about that guy, just throwing around names. I was reaching with him and Bobby P (who can obviously coach, just has such a sketchy track record).

Dude signed a contract extension with Rice after his first year with Rice, and then left for Tulsa a couple days later.
Left Pitt after a year after he had asked for permission to speak to ASU about the job and was told no. Told his boss he was leaving by texting him.

I knew he left Pitt after a year but I didn't know he did it like that. Strike him off the list then, too risky.
If Butch tanks I really hope we go after Whittingham hard. That Mich team he beat is no joke and he just laid a complete beatdown on Oregon who gave MSU all they could handle.

I like Whittingham too. It seems as though he'll be as hard to get away from Utah as Peterson was to get away from Boise, though. He's been there since 1994.
