It's gonna be interesting to see what SC throws at us defensively. Their entire defense is fairly bad, so I'm hoping Hurd and Dobbs can grind them down if the weather ends up being garbage.

Either way, it's nice to see the offense function as intended with Dobbs athleticism.

I really hope Baja makes a concerted effort to run it down their throat.

These images should remove any doubt that the talent is there and that our eyes didn't deceive us (I can't stop watching them - love the author's breakdowns):

^Also, notice how many times he should've been tackled. Those are TFLs with most QBs. Go ahead count the missed tackles!

^Bama sends everyone they've got and they blow past our line. Then... BOOM!

^This is the pass to Malone I was talking about. Dobbs lets it go while Malone still has his back turned - timing and trust. Beautiful.

The article is here (Get Tennessee While You Can) and well worth reading (it's the same guy who did the Jalen Hurd film study): LINK

Dobbs finna eat.

I just hope he minimizes the mistakes. He looked sharp last week considering those were his first meaningful snaps of the year. He has a chance to put up some really good numbers wih the caliber of defenses he's fixing to face.

Dobbs had to have put on 25+ lbs since last year. He looks a lot bigger. No one is going to call him big obviously, but... he doesn't look like he is going to snap in half.

And like that gif pointed out, that dude can accelerate.

I think they said that Dobbs grew about an inch taller and has put on ~25-27 lbs so yeah you're right on the mark - he's a lot bigger than last year. He had some wheels last season but he looks a lot faster to me this season than he did. I don't know if that's due to the strength training/workouts, confidence, quicker decision making regarding when to run, just the natural result of growing out of the slightly awkward skinny high schooler phase, a combination of things or what. Saturday it was noticeable but those gifs really show it, imo.

Our S&C Coach and program probably deserves at least some credit for those speed gains and definitely deserves credit for the weight gain.

Dobbs has put on at least 20 lbs. He looks faster too. He also has more zip on his throws than any of the other UT QBs.

He has me very optimistic about the '15 and '16 seasons.

On a side note, I think Hurd is going to run all over this SCAR defense.

I'm with you. Hopefully they keep with the inside zone and counters.

With as shitty as the weather is today I hope we run it 45-50+ times. I think Hurd gets the ball in the wildcat a few times today as well. If I remember correctly they haven't been able to stop that all season. UK torched them with the direct snap a few times.

To all the Vol Family on here (All 10 of us? )Here's to a win today and some good alcohol and food in the stomach.

Still can't get over that Malone TD

That was beyond serious body control.

Agreed. I've been saying all week that Hurd is gonna bust loose tonight. 150+ imo. SCe has had a ton of trouble all year with the read option.

What makes that pass and catch even better is that Malone is the third option. First option was Pearson but Dobbs read defensive coverage pre-snap and knew he didn't have time for a slower developing play so he selects Malone.

Even knowing the ball may not go to him, Malone runs his route perfectly and does an excellent job messing with the defender. Then he checks and that control you mention comes into play.

BTW, one thing I noticed rewatching some of these gifs and offensive clips is that the entire team, especially the WRs, TEs, and RBs, did a fantastic job blocking. No wonder Coach Z was praising Croom - he and the entire skills crew brung it on the blocks.
