A lot riding on it for both teams, as it should be. It's probably stating the obvious, but to me the game will hinge on turnovers. When we get them, we tend to win. When Mauk gives them up, we lose. The Mizzou staff has tried to force Mauk to lose the gunslinger mentality IMO by calling for shorter, quicker routes. When they let him loose, it's 50/50 on the outcome with either a big play for the offense or an INT.

The biggest thing Mizzou has going for it area all the UGA fans sporting UT colors. Recall SC fans doing the same thing last year.

Hoping for a close, competitive, injury free game.

Good luck to you guys (right?), I really think this will be one of those games where both teams beat the shite out of each other all night.

I agree that a lot has to do with Mauk's play...hopefully the D can force some turnovers.

I think UT needs to figure out some way to get the run going, and obviously that will be a tall order. Hopefully Dobbs can continue to play well, he is going to have to to get a win.

Didn't mean to make it sound so much like Mauk. Getting the turnovers goes to your D and they get the credit for that. Mauk has a tendency of making very poor decisions when he feels pressure. Your D can obviously bring pressure and if they do that, they can force the turnovers. For example, I've seen Mauk just fling a ball up in the air with no idea where it is going as he was in the process of getting sacked. Lucky for us they went out of bounds, one time 5 yards behind him, the other time 5 yards in front of him and one that thankfully fell at the feet of the defensive lineman.

As for Mizzou's D, they've been pretty good at holding people below their season or conference averages. So the key will be to stay patient and not get frustrated and try to force something that's not there.

Oh, I didn't think you did. I like our D, but they certainly have the potential to get torched and mizzou has some nice offensive weapons.

I'm interested to see how the O does against your D. I think we all know that mizzou has a legit defense. We've seen some pretty decent defenses this year...should be fun to watch (I hope)

I know the big year some of your players are having, but I'm always asking and so I'll ask again because I am rooting for the kid...how is the Hendrix kid doing this year? Obviously, he's getting over shadowed by the play of your other youngsters, but is he taking advantage of his opportunities?

Tbh, I have no idea how well he has done in practice and all that. He has played sparingly this year, and will spell Barnett who has had a monster year for a frosh.

I feels like he was one of the ones that didn't progress as fast as some of the others, but I'm sure someone on here could clear that up. I'm probably wrong.

Thanks for the update. Him being from the metro area, I followed his senior year fairly close and had really hoped that when y'all landed Barnett, he might give Mizzou some consideration even with his UT ties. Anyways, what a year Barnett is having. Guy is a beast.

Thanks. Likewise. Hopefully everyone stays healthy first and foremost.

Mizzou pretty much has everyone for the game. Gattis has been out for the season since the first game or so and Steward has been out since fall camp with a hip injury. We started the last game without a starting safety (due to prior targeting penalty) and a starting cornerback (busted for weed) but both are back and starting this week. So we're really not missing anyone from what has been our 2 deep all year long.

Anyone of significance that the Vols will be missing? I know about the 2 suspensions but only 1 was a starter...is that right? Is there still a chance he plays this weekend? Personally, I hope so. If we're meant to win, I'd rather it be with everyone there. Anyone else missing?

I suppose there is an outside shot that he plays if the investigation is finished quickly and the DA decides to not press charges.

Pinkel giving Dobbs some praise.

Pinkel on UT: "They're competing at a very high level, and you certainly have to point to (Dobbs) as a reason why."

quote:

Gabe DeArmond ?@GabeDeArmond 4h4 hours ago

Pinkel says UT QB Josh Dobbs is a different player than the Tigers faced last year in the 31-3 #Mizzou victory.

Pinkel says Tennessee QB Joshua Dobbs is "playing at a whole different level" than the Fr. MU saw in Columbia last year.

So y'all missing anyone else due to injuries or anything else?
