Loved every minute of it. Comforting that at least someone on the inside is saying what needs to be said.

Butch is very thin skinned and I don't doubt the stuff about his beta attitude permeating the program. A little bit of a hit piece but there is a lot of truth in it.

I just do not see VOLS being successful with him as the head coach.

I want to see how red Butch's face is right now.

I thought the article was hot garbage, and too many people care about what journalists think supported by anonymous "inside sources." The only source actually cited was Hood and he actually stated how he thought Butch was being underappreciated. People are arguing that it's a neutral article and yet it's titled "'The culture is a disaster:' Jones, Vols trending the wrong way." To be honest I think the Knoxville media is pissed at Butch (which I get) but it seems they've developed an agenda against him IMO. For instance I listen to 3&Out while at work and the hosts claim to be unbiased and even-keeled and have said they want Butch to succeed but every time that a negative opinion article surfaces they jump on it and push it as if it's fact.

I certainly believe there have been issues within the program but I'm giving the man a chance to get them sorted out.

I personally think we're at very polarizing point in Butch's tenure and fans/media are being very self-destructive in my opinion. I get that this year was a disappointment (I have season tix and am just as invested as anyone else), as I know we all expected to win the East but I think people need to realize that even if we hire a balls-out AD this week that Butch isn't going anywhere until after the '17 season. So that said, all of this negativity is doing nothing but damaging our own image and making it harder for this staff to succeed.

That's just my 2 cents. I'm tired of hearing all the negativity around this program, there are plenty of positives going into this offseason (staff upgrades, recruiting, etc) so I'd like for this fanbase to quit diving at each other's throats and wait it out.

I am not buying the bit about the Freshman who played a lot but was too lazy to learn the scheme.

Only one that would come to mind is Richmond.

Tennessee is going to end up where it was when Butch was hired if he stays around for a couple more years. He is not a winner. I don't see "all the positives" going into next season, just another 8-4 year for a program mired in mediocrity.

I wish our AD would get serious about winning football games again. The money invested and coaching staff screams that they aren't serious imo.

Recruiting is most certainly not a positive right now. This class is atrocious apart from 3-4 commits.

That had me wondering, too. Richmond or possibly Nigel Warrior?

I'm not advocating that he be given "a couple more years." I'm simply stating that he's most certainly not going anywhere before '17 and with that in mind fans need to chill out because if we canabolize our own program it'll be even worse.

"All the positives" are that recruiting is looking to end on a high note, it's looking like we are going after an NFL S&C coach, Helfrich is being heavily rumored to replace DeBord and Mahoney is also out. I addition to that it sounds like Shoop will have control of the defense and have a say in which staff is retained. All of which could yield positive results in '17. And if they don't then I see our AD looking elsewhere, as they should.

Would be the first I've heard about Warrior being lazy. Know it was reported that he struggled with the scheme but it's a complex defense, definitely seems to be pointing toward Richmond behind the lazy one.

I just don't see the point of leaving a lame duck coach around for another year. That is way more damaging to the program than fans being negative. Fans have every right to be negative about watching that garbage that was trotted out. He was out coached by Derek fricking Mason.

This recruiting class is slaw. Improved assistants could certainly help, but it doesnt address the fact that Butch will still be the head coach.

Edit: To be fair, I think VOLS have some nice pieces returning next year, that, if coached well, could produce a good year. I just have no confidence that will happen.

This x1000. Anyone who things that this program is still making any kind of forward progress whatsoever is fooling themselves. Problem is, too many Vol fans won't listen to the truth because they don't wanna hear it.

There's just zero chance he gets replaced this year so I just don't see the point to everyone bitching and moaning.

I'm personally seeing the following changes:
Helfrich - OC
New Oline coach
NFL S&C
Shoop will bring in guys he wants and completely implemet defense; replace Martinez, possibly bring in new LB coach and move Thigpen elsewhere
Rumors of Hoke being brought in as DLine coach with Helfrich

I disagree with your thoughts on our recruiting. If this is the class we sign then yes, I agree it's a disappointment, but as we've seen every year that's not what happens. I think we end up with 15 of the guys currently committed (while replacing the others) and still finish top 7. **Landed Reid right after posting this**

I don't think Butch is a great coach, I do however, think that given the events of the past 2 years he may choose to just bring in guys who can succeed and not be so hands on. I still think he can succeed here and if we still are terrible after this year then I'm sure he'll be shown the door.

But again, there is ZERO CHANCE he gets replaced this year regardless off who/when we replace the AD.

Daniel Hood is beyond naive.

It is an absolute joke that two players on the team got Dave Lawson fired, which is exactly what happened.

Maybe he should have been fired, but allowing players to dictate staffing decisions is very backwards.

The part about allowing certain players to dictate terms is 100% accurate.

I could see it being accurate, but unnamed sources carries no weight with me. It is bad journalism that shouldn't be ran with and I like Haney.

You must really hate following politics then. Not surprising the source is unnamed if he indeed is a UTAD administrator. Doubt Haney would just flat out lie about that title but who knows
